Guest guest
Dr. , Is the MAQ publicly available? I'd like to attempt to quantify my daughter's response to any treatment options that we attempt. Thanks. -Craig <<stuff deleted>> > > Yesterday we reported initial data on patient outcomes, and the group as a whole is using some variation with what sound therapy is used, and agreed that as a whole group, people are better. No one was deemd to be worse, and using the Misophonia Assessment Questionnaire, the MAQ, the number scored has improved for most of the patients after using the MMP. > << stuff deleted >>
Guest guest
I think I posted the MAQ here at some point, it should be in the archives, however, here it is, again. We are in the process of developing a rating scale for the scores, as you can imagine, in this first year of the treatment trials as a mulit clinic group. MISOPHONIA ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE: MAQ Twenty One Questions If a parent or caregiver, please answer for the child as best you are able, or substitute the words, " I feel that my child's sound issues " for the words " my sound issues " . RATING SCALE: 0 = not at all, 1 = a little of the time, 2 = a good deal of the time, 3 = almost all the time 1. My sound issues make me unhappy 0 1 2 3 2. My sound issues create problems for me. 0 1 2 3 3. My sound issues have made me feel angry. 0 1 2 3 4. I feel that no one understands my problems with certain sounds. 0 1 2 3 5. My sound issues do not seem to have a known cause. 0 1 2 3 6. My sound issues make me feel helpless. 0 1 2 3 7. My sound issues interfere with my social life. 0 1 2 3 8. Guest guest
Is the MAQ (below) the rating that people are rating themselves/children on when they rate whether or not they have gotten relief from sound sensitivity using the MMP? If so, aren't they rating the decrease in emotional upset caused by having the disorder rather than finding relief from the disorder itself? Unsolicited advice: I think it might be more useful to use the Misophonia Activation Scale that already exists and see if Misophonics find relief from the disorder by a lowering of their MAS score. (PS - I cannot reply to your posts so I had to find this work-around) Posted by Dr : I think I posted the MAQ here at some point, it should be in the archives, however, here it is, again. Guest guest
That was my reaction to the questionnaire as well. For example, my response to question 10 (My sound issues negatively affect my work life) has improved over the past 6 months because I found out about this condition and explained to my boss exactly what my problem with noise is, and she has gotten off my back about wanting to wear earplugs and headphones. I have explained to some of my colleagues as well, who have been understanding. I am a lot happier at work without that conflict. However, my actual misophonia has become worse in that time as I developed several new work-related triggers (as a result of being moved to a different desk) and am now even more dependent on noise masking at work than before. The questionnaire doesn't pick that up.
