Guest guest
My reason for asking the question is I received a couple of letters this weekend from a very nice lady to whom I need to respond. She has SD and I don't think she is on the AP. I will find that out when I write her. Her situation is such that she is wanting to manufacture a snack she eats a lot made from soybeans. She thought it might be something that the SD and RA people might be interested in. I thought I would throw that out for information before I write her back and tell her most RA people will not eat soy products; however, I am not sure that is true. I only know that I am trying to stay away from it. Thank you for the input. wrote: > From: " " <veggie@...> > > Soybeans are a starch and a protein, this is why they are difficult to > digest. Guest guest
, Sorry I didn't catch you before you got to work to give you some encouragement too. Some people just shouldn't be in the health care profession and this person sure is one of them. I am so sorry you had to go through this nonsense and put up with such treatment. You did get some useful information from her, although not much. You'll know now who NOT to see from here on. I hope you had a good day at work and the warmth and kindness of the group here help make your day brighter. :>)))) Warm hugs, Bev > > Thanks everyone for the encouraging letters. Guest guest
Nasrin, I too have psoriatic arthritis; since 1998. My rheumatologist wanted me to take methatrexate, even wrote a prescription. After talking with my wife, I decided not to take it. I did take Sulphasalazin for a couple of months, but after it completely eliminated my sense of taste, I stopped taking it. I started taking minocyclin about 2 years ago; 100 mg, 2X a day, MWF. After about 2 months, the muscle pain starting going away. I could actually walk around the lake, get in and out of the car without too much pain, and act relatively normal. Just tell your doctor you'd want him (her) to write a prescription for Lederle brand minocin. If he doesn't do it, just go to another doctor. Doctors with whom patients have a unilateral relationship are not good doctors. If you tell the group where you live, someone can recommend a doctor who will prescribe what you need. As far as I'm concerned there is no decision to be made. You can go along with the doctor and move from one harmful drug to the next, NSAIDs or whatever, or you can try this relatively harmless protocol, and get off the harmful stuff. Just because doctors are smart and educated doesn't make them as concerned about you as you are. Most doctors are sincerely concerned, but due to fairly rigid training and indoctrination in a particular field, they are necessarily open to techniques not learned in college. There is certainly a doctor near you that will prescribe minocin. It is low risk and you will be darn glade you did it. Good luck! Guest guest
, Sounds like you need to find a new pediatrician. The fact is, your son probably only needs a mumps booster. In addition, you can get immune titer to measles, mumps and rubella tested and skip the vaccination altogether. An allergy specialist or a doctor on the DAN! list should be able to help you with the immune titer testing. There is too much research out there (Wakefield et al.) that shows some level of correlation with the initial MMR vaccine (at 15 months) and autism or ASD, despite what the National Academy of Sciences proports. My own son took a steep downturn after receiving MMR and OPV at 15 months. God Bless! S. Hooker, Ph.D., P.E. Guest guest
Hi there, I hate what you are going through! It absolutely makes me furious that the pediatricains use guilt as a tool to get parents to vaccinate their children! My daughter was due her 5 year old shots last year, we ran the titers and my pediatrician said she was immune and was fine with her not having them. Can you lose immunity???? I don't think so. You tell that pediatrician that thousands of parents like me think you are really brave to trust that your child will be fine getting those immunizations when so many children have been damaged! Does your child have developmental delays already??? If so I think that it would be insanity to give the shots! Read over the list of things that can happen as a result of the injection. When I told my doctor that I did not feel comfortable giving my baby the immunizations after reading that- he laughed and patted me on the shoulder and told me a was just a nervous new mother and that nothing ever really happens. WELL, it did and I should have known to trust my instincts! I have since changed pediatricians. If your child has already suffered any type of immune system problem, autism, or developmental delay, I am begging you not to chance his future by giving him any further immunizations. I live in Louisiana and have been told so many times that it was state law and that my child would have to have the immunizations before entering school. I got a copy of the law and that information is absolutely false in this state. All it takes is a letter from a parent stating medical, moral, or philosophical reasons and you do not have to have them. You still have to present the white shot record, but it does not have to be complete. I am sick and tired of physicians and school personnel bullying parents into something they feel is wrong for their child!!! Sorry so long -- this just touched a nerve with me! I really didn't want to go through them as my guy had been sick too much. She said if you don't do them I won't be your doctor . Well I should have told her @#$^** & . AND WALKED OUT. THIS was BEFORE I knew anything. Now I have MMR boosters coming up too. I have to find some way to get him into school without them.. Hoping my guy has immunity cause even if he don't . Guest guest
Diane, Look at your doctor directly and say simply, " The purpose of the vaccine is to create immunity in my child, since he's already immune, I see no point in sticking him unnecessarily. " (Then look at him questioningly, as if you wonder why he would want to stick your child unnecessarily) I've changed physicians many a times because I didn't like how they made " me " feel. If I don't feel that we are both interested in helping my child, then I won't continue seeing them. I know it is hard, because you go through several and they are all the same. We started seeing an environmental doctor, and it has been so much better. We still have our pediatrician, though, because she is close. And I think it is smart to have one, just in case of an emergency. But I prefer the environmental doctor. Doctors are taught to treat with drugs, surgery, and they make referrals. If your child doesn't need either (based on their medical school training) then there is nothing they can do. And they were taught in medical school that autism is psychological. Therefore, they only know to refer you to behaviorists for various things that come up. But an environmental doctor has the philosophy that you can treat various symptoms through other ways. This incudes diet, nutrition, allergy treatments, immunology, chelation, etc. They systematically start working on your symptoms. If you are worried about cost, call and ask them ahead of time. I put it off because I was worried, but their accountant came in and met with me after I saw the doctor. She put us on a payment plan that works for us. They are used to insurance covering part or none of the treatments. And they are doctors, so they can write in that they tested immune. Just forward your child's records so they have it all. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. MS is often due to mercury. Autism is often due to mercury. Susceptibility to mercury is partly genetic, so with both of you having a potentially mercury related condition you should avoid all vaccines until you are sure that both of you got your problems from other sources (or until you are both detoxed and well). > ok anyway i'm sorry to ramble..i'm still left with 1. give vaccines; The correct choice for your pediatrician's wallet and ego. > 2. don't give vaccines; The correct choice for your child and you. > 3. give just the measles.. Guest guest
Having a long relationship with a doc would require first having a doc that you want to have a relationship with! Personally, I think that the time spent practicing how to tell this doc what you are not going to do and the heartache spent worrying about the doc's possible reations are too high a price to pay. There is nothing to " defend " here. You do not want your child immunized. END OF STORY. This is not open to debate. You get to decide. If your doc is unwilling to go along with this and have a good attitude to boot, I think looking for another doc is a good idea. Beyond that, if YOU find the doc intimidating (which it seems is the case) THEN this doctor becomes dangerous, since you can be bullied into things, and since you spend valuable time and energy on arguing, defending, researching, worrying, etc. Just the mental anguish is a high price....... Even if you decide to stay with this doc due to lack of options, I agree with the others who have written: do NOT allow any more immunizations. Guest guest
I know it is hard to find good help. http://www.naturopathic.org/contact_aanp/stateassoclist.htm this is a naturopathic directory and dan doctors have a directory as well....I am going to call the ones in my state today........I'll keep checking until I find someone..... Most peds are not very helpful. I know I am still looking for a decent one. One that won't say there just isn't anything that we can do or else they think you're a nut case cause you believe in a mercury connection, yeast , etc..........When you do find one that listens and helps then you can stay with them , but until that time don't let them bully you. He ain't the one........They have no clue.. We know more than they do . Unless they have a child or family member with autism they probably know squat.....I am hoping for the day when they actually treat an autistic child instead of throwing them to the wolves. We don't have all that many choices and most of the parents are the " doctors " cause there isn't enough help for us... Plain and simple .. Until that day ....we have to travel , search, go through doctors left and right to find a decent one, hand out moneys that go to treatment that isn't reimbursed etc........ We are all in the same boat. Lucky parents will find someone right away.....I am still searching for a nearby doctor and my dan doctor is getting out of the business......I know how it feels....... kelly > > > establish some sort of longevity..i know..my borthers and sister and i saw > the ped that delivered us..all into our early 20s.. > > what is an environmental doctor..is that the same as a dan doctor? > > thanks diana
Guest guest
I can't tell you what you should do, but I can tell you what I have done. I fully immunized my first two children and they have PDD. I partially immunized my third child and he had ADHD. I have not immunized my fourth child and (so far) he is perfectly normal. I realize that this doesn't prove anything to the scientists out there, but I am not taking the chance when I see what it can do in my family. Good luck in your decision-making, and remember that it is YOUR decision, and don't feel pressured to make any decision either way. Make it in your own good time. By the way, I just signed a waiver for my partially vaccinated son to go to school, etc. No problem. -Phyllis [ ] (no subject) > hi all..first off i'm sorry to keep asking the same question here..but > honesly..my son's 4-year old shots are due on monday..and i'm scared to > death..to give them to him and equally to not give them to him.. > > i had his immunity tested for mmr and chicken pox..both came back showing his > was immune..however..his ped is still putting pressure on me to have the > shots..i clearly dont understand his thinking..why give something that is > already there? > > then it was suggested that, since a child is required to have two measle shot > for school or college and not the mumps and rubella..just give him the measle > shot. again i'm wondering why if the immunity is present? i also asked then > why is the mumps and rubella given if not required..answer..as a > precaution..again why? if its there..why? > > then im presented with a theory..what happens if between now and the time he > needs to have him immunity checked..he loses that immunity and was exposed > for some period of time..ok now this sort of makes sense here..and scares me > to death..i would have no way of knowing when his immunity level fell below > what is sufficent to fight off these diseases. > > i've also been told i'm " a brave women " taken such a chance with a childs' > life.. > > i also can't confirm if his autism was brought on by his original > vaccines..when he was a baby..he had the foul smelling, loose bms, extremely > bad rash on his face and bottom. nothing worked to get rid of it..he also was > in hospital under two..twice for gastro-interitis(sp)..his speech didn't come > until he was 3.2 months....everything that fit into a " leaky gut " > situation..but that all really diappeared...after i was divorced..so i dont > know..maybe he was stressing at the situation..before that time ..he was > really a handful..slept maybe six hours in a 24-hours period..didn't > eat..cried all the time..the complete opposite as to what he is now..now i > think alot of that had to due to his lack of language..he was frustrated..i > was also in the hospital for a month with six months of therapy after for an > ms excerbation so he was with family alot.. > > ok anyway i'm sorry to ramble..i'm still left with 1. give vaccines; 2. don't > give vaccines; 3. give just the measles..i need a better understanding as to > why..peds push if children are immune.. > > thank you for all your patience and multiple answers to the same > questions..diana > > >
Guest guest
Diane, I know what you mean about trying to build a rapport with a doctor because of switching. lol Our environmental doctor is on the DAN list. But I believe that there are a variety of specialties of doctors on the DAN list. Environmental Doctors have a different approach then many doctors. That's why much of their services are not covered by insurance. But they are real doctors. Ours used to be a pediatrician before he changed the nature of his practice due to a personal medical crisis wake-up call. Our Environmental Doctor is an allergist too. Some things that I noticed he treats the most are allergies, thyroid problems, Candida, EDTA chelation (not for heavy metals), immunology, and I'm sure there are more. This is what I gathered from literature from his office. Since he is on the DAN list, he goes straight through the DAN protocol treatment book. I also found out that if we would have brought my son in for allergies, some of it would have been covered by insurance. (something to remember) Good luck with your pediatrician! I hope it goes well. > In a message dated 8/16/01 9:39:17 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > ericshirl@h... writes: > > > > Look at your doctor directly and say simply, " The purpose of the > > vaccine is to create immunity in my child, since he's already immune, > > I see no point in sticking him unnecessarily.
