Guest guest
Wow! I wish I had the time to go back and read all the posts. I am pleasantly stunned to have found this group. Like many, I have felt like an intolerant fruit loop because of my struggles. I did some research some years back, but did not find this group. Anyway, for some reason I did again. It may have something to do with my drive home the other day . . . As thousands upon thousands of times before, I found myself at a traffic light on a day when people have their windows open. I had mine closed (of course), my radio on, and I could STILL here the thumping and garbled words of someone else's radio. I ended up physically using my index fingers to close my ears until the light turned green. Then, to add insult to injury, I forgot to push the recirculate button and a waft of someone's cigarette smoke invaded my car. I am bothered mostly by sounds. The visuals get to me. AND smells. Does anyone else struggle with the smells? Looking forward to learning more about everyone's journeys.
Guest guest
If you do a search of the prior posts you will find people have talked about EMDR in the past.Heidi Smells bother me too. Cigarette smoke, bad body odor, Dial soap, and strong perfume. I have learned how to block out smells and still be able to breathe, I cannot explain how I do it but I do it all of the time. I get anxious everyday when I know that the person who is my trigger at work is at work. I know her car and I get upset before I walk into the building. The anticipation is almost as bad as the trigger. I meet with my boss on Friday and he gave me permission to wear earbuds at work to block out sounds. I listen to pink noise using Simply Noise and it blocks out all of the background sounds even my trigger person. I need to raise the volume at times but I am not as nervous and anxious and it helps me concentrate. Has anyone tried EMDR as a treatment for misophonia? Pam Gorgeous, youthful skin is waiting for you. Real science. Real results.www.heidisalerno.nerium.com

Guest guest
Since we are pointing out soliciting what about " Gorgeous, youthful skin is waiting for you. Real Science. Real Results. www.heidisalerno.nerium.com? " Oh, I forgot this is Heidi's site. I have posted a comment two times and both times I felt as if I had been kicked in the face from the comments to my posts. This is a hostile site. I have total respect for Dr. J because I am now receiving treatment for misophonia. Finally someone understands what we have been going through. God Bless You. I know that leaving the site is only upsetting me however, the site is just not friendly. Pam

Guest guest
I think it is good to take a break here when you are trying some type of treatment. I generally advise my patients to avoid nternet boards when they are doing a treatment as I think it heightens the awareness, etc. etc. So I think it is good to take a break. I try not to see these as disagreements but more as discussions. I am certainly also keeping an even pace here and trying to encourage people to do their best to be kind and supportive. In these cases, it is a trial and error situation and some have very strong personalities and opinions. Lol, they write in bold just in case you cannot read their posts already.... Or CAPS. There are good manners to be used on the internet sites and then there are those who have stronger feelings and emotions and get easily frustrated or irritated and they don't think through their words too far and don't take time to think if they are hurting someone else's feelings before they hit send. I advise those of your who are strong willed and strongly opinioned to take time to think over a post and even let it sit for a day or two before sending it, reading it over a couple times to think...is this kind? Is it true? Does it help? Does it cause more turmoil? Is it supportive? Not speaking of anyone specifically really, but there are people who are repeatedly booted off websites because they just cannot calm down and behave. Anyway, have a good break and please keep your chin up, we are making progress despite ourselves, lol. Guest guest
Pam, that's my signature on my email to everyone who gets an email from me. As is "sent from my iPhone". I've never even given it a second thought as I send a lot of emails to a lot of places. You could argue my email address itself is a solicitation as its my swing dance business site. I don't think people should have to have a clean email addy and signature just for this group. I think serious topics require serious debate. That doesn't mean something is unfriendly IMO HeidiSent from my iPhoneReal Results. Real science.
