Guest guest
I was watching the Swimming Olympic Trials on Pax TV this evening, and they were doing the profile of a swimmer named Hall Jr. WIn his bio, they said that 18 months ago he was diagnosed as diabetic, I am quietly thinking yeah, someone that can prove that life doesn't end with diagnosis. Then he says that his doc told him his swimming career is over. I thought that was a little over zealous on the doctors behalf. The commentators were making it sound as if diabetes is a death sentence, if it is, then I don't want to believe it. then said that there are no pro athletes that are diabetic, is that true. I thought there was a football player that was. Where I went to college, I knew there were a couple of footballl players, a wrestler, and a basketball player that were diabetic, and this was a Big 10 school. He also said that he was taking 8 shots a day, which sounds almost right to me, for someone that is undergoing that much training and having to eat to keep up his energy. Am I mistaken? Like I said in the subject, comments requested. I am still a newbie at gathering this information, info that differs from what all PCPs have always told me about this illness. My Endo and this list is shattering some of those misconceptions. Thank you for your time.
