Billing for transplant evaluations

Hello-

I have a question regarding kidney transplant evaluations. If both a nephrologist and a surgeon see the evaluation patient on the same day, how does the billing work for this type of visit? Can both providers bill separately for their service?

Both of our doctors charge, although it’s rare that both see the patient on same day.

Yes, we see most of our patients on the same day and all physicians that see the pt can charge.

are of 2 different specialties.

Should be okay as long as you use modifier 27. We do it all the time for our patients that live out of town.
