I thought the patient had up to 12 months to apply for Medicare coverage after transplant??? Can someone else verify that this correct?

Subject: [Marketing Mail] [Caution: Message contains Suspicious URL content] Medicare enrollment after transplant

Goodmorning,

I have a patient who was transplanted August 2011. Patient had Keystone Health Plan East at time of transplant, NO MEDICARE. Patient has been laid off and is now uninsured. Can patient apply for Medicare? I know part B will not pick up immunos, but thinking

part D will. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I thought it was up to 12 months post transplant to backdate to the date of transplant, but they had until the end of their coordination period to sign up.
