Neurofeedback is a type of Biofeedback. Neuro is the one that is effective based on what I have learned here.Welcome to the group, we all feel your pain :) Sometimes telling people about your disorder can relieve stressful situations as they will be more understanding. Curing it could take years...as you would need 80-100 treatments (so research shows) and also is very hard to get covered under insurance...so is very costly :(Glad to have you though!Subject: New Member post - biofeedback and neurofeedback questionTo:

Good Morning! I am a new member to this group.

Misophonia started with me around age 12-14. The sound of my brother eating, my mom chewing gum, or tapping her hand on the steering wheel to music would drive me nuts. I could hardly eat dinner with my family without getting annoyed.

I am now 25 years old and am still struggling with Misophonia. My boyfriend chews with his mouth open and chews like a cow. Sometimes I give him mean looks and get in bad moods when we eat. I feel terrible about it because he's not doing anything wrong. I would do anything to stop this issue. I haven't told him about my issue yet and we have been dating for a year. I would like to try to cure it before telling him!

My 27 year old sister also struggles with Misophonia. We didn't know anything about Misophonia until I was researching about a month ago and realized that other people were dealing with this same issue. I'm glad to know there is a name for what we have.

Cures/Treatments:

I bought a hypnosis tape, but that didn't seem to help at all. After reading some of the posts on here, I am researching neuro-feedback and bio-feedback options. Does anyone know the difference and which one may be more effective??

Thank you!!
