FY2013 Proposed Medicare Inpatient Rule Issued - BMT Section attached

Good morning, The FY2013 Medicare Inpatient Proposed Rule has been issued. There is a specific section on BMT that we would like to call to your attention, as it emphasizes the need for complete coding and billing. CMS is willing to create different MS-DRGs and payment rates for allogeneic related and allogeneic unrelated transplants to account for the differences in donor costs but has been unable to do so based on the lack of donor coding information being received on the bill. The document itself is well over 1,000 pages, so we have copied the information onto the attached Word document. Additionally, the proposed weighting for the BMT MS-DRGs is attached.
