Guest guest
Oh I think a LOT of us have trouble with whistling. It's probably my worst trigger. I'm usually an MAS 3, but it will drive me to a 4 or 5... Even calmly thinking about it now, i just feel contempt for anyone who would whistle (other than a musician, who is good at it and in an appropriate setting...I'm generally okay with them). " Raised by wolves! " , they are...I really hate whistlers. Kitty > > I have discovered that when someone whistles, it sets off the same > trigger for me as someone chewing or crunching. Guest guest
Wow, this is something that happened to me, too, just recently. My friend always whistles, but one day he was doing it and it upset me and I told him to quit, and he did. When he asked why, I told him about my Misophonia and he's now trying not to whistle, but it's a habit for him. -Chery > > I have discovered that when someone whistles, it sets off the same > trigger for me as someone chewing or crunching. Guest guest
Yeah, I got that one too. People with miso are particularly aware of things that many normal people regard as rude. Its like, " Gee, I think I'll just walk around making as much stupid noise as I can, irrespective of whether I might be bothering anyone around me; I'll just wait until someone complains " . > > I have discovered that when someone whistles, it sets off the same > trigger for me as someone chewing or crunching. Guest guest
Hi Bruce, I feel your pain. This is my absolute *worst* trigger. Just thinking about it is making my blood boil. When I hear somebody whistling my body tenses, rage sets in and I would do anything to make it stop! Just like the other person who commented, I think it is so RUDE. Nobody in their right mind would go out in public making a high pitch shriek and think it's okay - so why is whistling accepted? The problem I find with whistling is that is it EVERYWHERE - there is no escape. Grocery store, drug store, office, home, mall etc. You cannot go anywhere without a whistler within ear shot. Also, I notice now that 99% of all television commercials feature whistling in some form, which annoys the hell out of me. When the commercials come on I leap for the mute button on the remote. I've even written to some of the companies and complained about the commercials. I don't know what the answer is for this. Since whistling is everywhere it is virtually impossible to avoid. If anyone has any help/advice it would help a lot of people. - > > I have discovered that when someone whistles, it sets off the same > trigger for me as someone chewing or crunching. Guest guest
Biting fingernails, popping gum, and knuckle cracking all driveMe up a wall. And I don't know what it is about eating apples off the core but everyone does it. I have to cut mine up because if I can't fit the whole piece in your mouth at one time you can hear spit moving around ad the crunch is much much louder.
