Hi All, I thought that the updates were sent to the group. had her surgery on the 20th, everything went well. She went to ICU, I believe for 2 days, and they were hoping that she would be released today. I haven't received any other update than that, so lets hope that she is still doing great. Guest guest
Hi , Nan, Joan The surgery is booked Sept 9th. It is generally called ‘FESS’ - F(?) Endoscopic Sinus Surgery - (incl septoplasty, turbinoplasty, and, I think, rhinoplasty) a general ‘clean out’ of sinuses spaces congealed w/ solid infected gunk. Yesterday’s appt w/ anaesthetist went well, & am booked for admission o/night after surgery- means I don’t have to look after myself etc at least for another 24 hrs or so. Meanwhile I do rehab 2x mornings, several hours/day physio (saline nebs & Flutter valve) & keeping my lungs clear as poss (cos sinuses infected lung infx could occur quickly). Seretide & Erythromycin have reduced sputum qty a lot too. I still cough up quite a lot, but it’s a fraction compared to usual. I’m so glad the homeopathics are working well for you . About 15 yrs ago Echinacea worked wonders getting over bronchitis, but is not ‘tough enough’ any more, likewise many others... I use the tonic mixture I mentioned before after abx treatment etc, to build up immunity again, and so far, so good! And walking 15 miles!!!!!! Maybe I managed it way back in my 30s, early 40s....but that was quite a long time ago! All in all I’m not doing to badly, my energy is reasonable, and I’m staying mostly positive! Thanks for all your prayers, and caring, it really is good to know, happy breathing J Joy -- -- " Wealth is nothing, position is nothing, fame is nothing. Who you become inside is everything. Guest guest
Hi Joy, I'm glad to hear they are keeping you overnight after your sinus surgery. I don't know what this FESS is but they wanted to do this or a similar procedure with me. Unfortunately I'm not a candidate for any surgery now since I had the blood clot in my lung and I take a blood thinner. I added, per my doctor's straight forward advice to do a sinus rinse minimum of once a day to help keep infections at bay and it has. Well then let's not stop here! Why not add another disease to cater too. Oh! Now that sure sounded bitter. ;~) Sorry. It seems our lives are surrounded by rehab, physios, nebulizing, etc. Most "normal" people just don't understand the time it takes to keep ourselves free of infection. Sometimes I could just scream I get so tired of it. So, Joy I hear you and certainly do empathize. I've had a hard time keeping up the pace many times but know what I leave behind will wait for me to tackle the next day, week, month or so. There are times fatigue rears its ugly head and lingers for a spell. Nothing left to do but go on with our lives as best as we can enjoy and smile, smile, smile. I like your attitude and share the same. Chin up girlie things will get better. I'll be sending healing thoughts. Hugs, Nan Re: surgery Hi , Nan, JoanThe surgery is booked Sept 9th. Guest guest
Thx so much Nan, I got confirmation today, so far so good (I heard last week ops were being cancelled, no beds)... I do the saline if nasal cavities get blocked but nothing gets into the sinuses that go up into the top of the head almost to the back of the skull...mine are solid instead of air spaces....hmmm! I can feel a quip coming on! Still got things to do, preparing for the worst (extended hospital stay) but expecting the best, NO MORE headaches eye pain toothaches...headaches...urrgghh! When I rang to confirm I was half terrified/half excited – but am more just looking forward to being able to ‘get on with it’...and have a life again! Sort of...! Cheers, joy
