Many of our patients come to us without any coverage. We have to get through the disability/medicaid process. We do a financial assessment to see if they will qualify for Medicaid after disability determination prior to VAD/Tx. If they meet Medicaid criteria we go ahead with the VAD and file a retrospective reveiw request for the VAD. Most pre-heart transplant patients meet a spend down once. Bev
