Guest guest
What are your centers doing when a patient is running out of their Medicare hospital days. These are patients waiting for heart transplant and can not be sent home. Also, can we find out the exact waiting days without waiting for the Medicare claims to be processed. I really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, AyabarrenoFinancial CoordinatorHartford Hospital Transplant Program80 Seymour Street - Suite 321Hartford, CT 06102Tele# Fax# Email: Mayabar@... Guest guest
Hello, I can’t speak to heart transplants specifically – but at our facility when a patient is getting close to running out of days we do a few things. I don’tknow of a way to find out the exact number of days used. I run a Medicare verification to see what the last hospitalization was on file and what the number of days used/available was at that time. Then count hospital days at our facility as well as admitsat other facilities that are after the last date processed by Medicare. If the patient does not have a supplemental plan that will cover days after LTR days are used, a staff social worker would work with the patient /family toget them enrolled in a supplemental plan or Medicaid.I hope this helps – DeidraDeidra M.
