I feel it would be helpful if they could fax or e-mail specific things that they need for review and authorization. Many times I feel as though I have to ask all of the questions. This could definitely delay authorization if all of the information is not sent. I also feel a direct line to the case manager would be helpful. For example, when I work with BCBS, I can never call directly to the case manager. I must go through the intake person and she will have them call me back. This is very frustrating not at all time efficient. M. Dedicated transplant Case Managers who authorize all transplant-related services AND do concurrent reviews. We have some payors that have one nurse authorize transplants and the transplant admission, but their general service line approves mobilization chemotherapy admissions (multiple calls required). Then the concurrent review is handled by another nurse who isn’t up-to-date on the patient and their treatment. Frustrating, to say the least. One of our regimens, TLI ATG require the pt stay in house for the ATG then transplant as an out pt. I have beengiven an auth to find out it was only for the ATG admission. This is with a letter of MN stating the exact dates of admission and tp, submitted with clinical and a patient calendar. Lack of communication from the CM caused much havoc! I didn’t know your center is using the TLI/ATG regimen! That was invented here at Stanford. We have the same problem as far as getting an auth upfront that we’re told covers everything, and then later finding out it only covers the admit, or the transplant infusion but NOT the admit, or else it’s just a transplant CASE number and separate auths are needed for the admit AND the infusion! I would like a direct line to the Case Managers and have all

eggs in one basket with them for authorization through the transplant process.

Auth, review, ect.

More and more I find I have to speak with a dozen people before

I get an auth for all services.
