Guest guest
Please see the note below from our Patient Services department about this new resource available for Spanish speakers. Spanish Educational Insurance-Financial Webcast for patients and caregiversTo: Transplant Centers, Financial Staff, and Social WorkersFrom: Eugenia Mac, Bilingual Patient Services Coordinator, Be The Match® Riley, Cancer Legal Resource Center Be The Match® Patient Services in collaboration with Cancer Legal Resource Center (CLRC) created a Spanish Webcast called Reviewing Your Medical Insurance and Creating a Financial Plan for a Stem Cell Transplant (Revisando su Seguro Medico y Creando un Plan Financiero para Trasplante de Células Madres). This webcast provides culturally-appropriate information about medical insurance options and guidance for financial and legal planning in preparation for a stem cell transplant, including: how to navigate transplant expenses, what legal documents are helpful to prepare in delegating care, understanding the differences between the U.S. health care system and that of the patient’s country of origin. This webcast was developed because of the lack of educational materials in Spanish for patients and their caregivers. Prior to meeting with a financial coordinator or a social worker at the transplant hospital, the patient and caregiver can review this information, which will help guide discussion and decision-making on the best insurance plan for them, understanding the financial impact in their budget, and how to be prepared with fundraising campaigns. It is also a resource to understand how you delegate care in the U.S. To access this Webcast presentation, just click on the link for this program. http://dream.presentme.com/audio2011/20110707NMDPMac/ If your patients don’t have access to a computer, you can request a copy from Be The Match Patient Services by calling 1 ext. 7515 and a PowerPoint presentation and CD will be sent to you or directly to the patient/caregiver. We appreciate the dissemination of this educational program with your appropriate Spanish speaking patients and caregivers. Please share the e-mail with health care professionals that are involved with this audience. Also, if you have any comments about this educational webcast, please don’t hesitate to contact either of us.
