Advice for a long plane ride and Miso dating

Isn't it strange that the people we care about the most - those closest to use - are the ones that set us off the worst? As a child, my brother was my worst trigger. As an adult, it always seems to be the person I'm dating.

The other strange part is that if I'm very interested in someone and attracted to them, noises don't bother me - at first. In the beginning they can chew gum in my face or snore all night long and it's fine. But after some time - a few months, maybe - I'll snap. It happens in an instant, and once it does, I know I won't be able to ignore it anymore. It seems like there's no going back.

I've never been able to explain that it's their gum chewing that's brought me to tears. I try to come up with another reason because that always seemed so insane. I also think that it's unfair of me to ask them to stop - everyone has a right to chew gum, to eat chips, to play music, to snore. Why should they have to stop doing these normal things just because it bothers ME?

On the other hand, if they don't stop, I'm out the door. Or sleeping on the couch. Or doing the 'look-behind-me-and-glare-at-them-without-looking-them-in-the-eye-because-I'm chicken-shit' thing (anyone else?)

I'm about to take a 14 hr flight to Taiwan and I'm very nervous about it. I have noise cancelling headphones but those don't help with the SMELL of gum or the visuals. Does anyone have any air travel advice? I LOVE traveling, but plane rides are a trigger cesspool!

Quietly yours,Rebekahp.s. there seems to be a lot of interest in a Miso dating site! I'd love to work on this. Are there any programmers/web designers out there who'd like to collaborate? I'd be happy to volunteer my marketing/copy writing services but need help with the more technical aspects.
