Guest guest
What does NFB stand for. Excuse my ignorance, I'm still a newbie.. cheersKez Thanks for keeping us updated. What were the tests you did this week? And how long are the NFB sessions going to be? 8 per week sounds like a lot. I'm interested to learn, as more people try this, if progress is related to just the number of sessions or if the elapsed time also contributes. I.e. does the brain need time to make the adjustments in addition to time spent doing the sessions? Liesa > > I will be the next NFB guinea pig beginning on Monday. That's 32 per month. I am paying for a block of 60 visits, so should have that under my belt in 2 months. > The brain mapping is about $500.00 and the sessions, when you prepay for 60, are $70. per visit. Guest guest
Liesa,All good questions and all of which I asked myself. I did a series of tests. Dr. Gurnee does the tests himself so I have spent about 6 hours with him. About 2 were a personal interview about my life and backgroundincluding the symptoms of the problems most bothered by. He said they were quite common with people having ADD and OCD. In my case, insomnia, easily bored, and distracted, anxiety, phobic, impatient, addictive behaviors, restlessness, low self-esteem, obsessive. (Gosh, I'm a mess!) Also IQ tests. At least I was in the top 4%, which sort of makes up for all of my other issues...A number of tests on the computer and other devices that test for visual and sonic reflexes and impulsiveness. Cognitive and behavioral interventions they call it.Most I think were designed to check for OCD and ADD. Finally the QEEG/ topographic Brain Map and evaluation. Talk about being a Guinea Pig!The sessions will start at close to an hour but will decrease over time as you progress. Time depends on the individual. They said that most people can do two sessions, back to back, without much problem. In my case, I want to expedite the process, so am very happy to be able to do 8 sessions a week. Apparently the brain can process the changes and does not need a lot of time to adjust before the next one. Also to answer you question, I don't think it is necessarily the number of sessions, but rather the total time that matters. The rate of progress is very individual and willvary. His website is : www.scottsdaleneurofeedback.com.I will be the happiest human being on the planet if this works and will be overjoyed if this will help my fellow Miso sufferers.....Mike To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2012 3:13 AM Subject: Re: Beginning NFB Thanks for keeping us updated. Guest guest
Hi Colleen,From one guinea pig to another, I am happy to hear that you are doing NFB. But sorry about the brain injury. I have had at least 2 concussions, and fallen down a full flight of stairs at least twice. Either I have a death wish or I am just a klutz. I hope you can get past the brain injury issue. I will talk to my doctor about it and see what he has to say. Keep posting your progress. It's still early in your treatment, so don't get discouraged.Mike To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2012 10:40 AM Subject: Re: Beginning NFB I'm excited for you, Mike. Your doctor sounds incredibly thorough with the testing and evaluation. I'm on session 31, but there's been no change in my sensory symptoms, yet. I'm sporadically sleeping better, though. That seems to be a common first sign of improvement, so I'm hopeful. My progress is hindered by a severe brain injury. I was a crash test dummy on a bicycle Also, my provider requires 4 hours between sessions, so I'm only doing one 40-minute session per day, five days a week. Each provider seems to vary in their methods. Looking forward to hearing about your progress, especially since you also have a brain injury.
