Hi Joyce,Some questions. Does the family file an income tax return for their farm. Many times, I think, they may get social security credit for that. If they do, the child may qualify for Medicare because of that. I do not know for sure how that works. Do the parents have a social security number.Just an odd thought, other than that, I don't know.Thanks,BillReply-To: <TxFinancialCoordinators >Date: Tuesday, August 14, 2012 11:59 AMTo: "'TxFinancialCoordinators '" <TxFinancialCoordinators >Subject: Amish

Hello Joyce,

I deal with the Amish all the time, you need to ask the parents to contact their committee person. The committee informs the elders of the order. Sometime

the Elder of the Amish Committee will meet with the transplant group or the hospital administrator. Financially arrangements are made with the parents, who in turn pay for any/all services in cash. We normally give the Amish Community a discount rate.

Hope this helps,

Joyce,

We have a program which is called OCCF it is for Amish here in

Ohio, their own version of Children with medical handicaps. Check with them and

see if they have a program like that and/or see if they would consider signing

up with you children with medical handicaps program in your state, if they have

one. Otherwise, I would say that they will pay through the church.

We have a large Amish population here and depending on beliefs,

depends on what programming they will do.

Feel free to call me as I handle all of the Amish population

here for HEMA/ONC/BMT.

Thanks,
