Guest guest
Well..................... since December I'm taking hydrocortisone in small physiological doses. Given my overall situation and severity of adrenal fatigue with Hashi's thyroid I think it will be best in the long run. I can't take enough thyroid hormone to get my TSH low enough to stop the Hashi's antibody attacks without healthy adrenal function so that has become my priority. Originally I was in an estrogen/progesterone/testosterone conversation and considering the WP but after much testing, reading (this group and others) and researching the bigger picture became clearer. I learned that adrenals are vital to all hormone function and you want to address those puppies before adding in other things. I also take: pregnenolone B-12/Folic Acid sublingual B-5 Panthotenic acid D3 High Vit C (powder around 3500/day) Estradiol cream (not for adrenals) Iron (ferrous sulfate) for low ferritin levels (ferritin is the body's iron storage and low levels are indicated as a precursor to anemia.) That's the adrenal portion........I also take other vits, minerals and digestive stuff, probiodics, enzymes. I'm concentrating on getting whole healthy organic foods into my body and drinking reverse osmosis water to avoid flouride and chlorine ingestion. Guest guest
I pretty much do the same thing you are (except i don't have any thyroid or hashi's issues). i don't take prenenalone. but i take a lot of the B complex, a ton B5 (1500 mg), ton of C, and E mix trophohels (sp?). all my life i've shown anemia and docs told me to take iron, so i did. (just like they said, take Ortho Novum since you don't get a period). but when this all first started 2 years ago, the first thing found was too much iron in my tissues (but not in my blood)...hemochromatosis. so i think my ferritin levels are fine. they were high before. so i don't really address iron for this reason. but at some point i will monitor it again. my doc also wants high D3 so i'm about to do that too. i'm hoping the DHEA will help the adrenals along. i dont think hydrocortisone or cortef is wrong. i fact, i did it too, because i think i hit almost addisons. i couldn't get out of bed. I just don't want to supplement cortef/cortisol now since i actually have cortisol now (albeit low)... i just want to get them very healthy to do their cortisol thing on their own. I suspect (or blindly hope, call it what you will) my T issues will go away with either DHEA or healthy adrenals (I am 39 so maybe not), but i'm certain i will eventually need to take E. i would do it now but i want my adrenals in order first. Oh and I also do RO water. I have both a water softener (Hague system) that takes the minerals out before it gets into the house and the RO at our sink (to take out the funny taste and pottassium or salt) for drinking and plants. Now some here may think the minerals are necessary in the water for alkalizing, but with my past iron storage in my tissues, i don't want any unnecssary iron from the water (we have well water). Its funny for the Hague system, you can use either salt or pottassium to pull out the iron. we've used pottassium to start, then salt. I wonder if i should continue salt since i suspect that i've always had a slight pottassium:salt ratio issue (aldosterone)...(with too much potassium in my system)... but i'm not going to over think this right now. If i do, i'll go crazy. I wish I read this group, like you did, before i did the WP. I was so sick, i just wanted to trust someone, anyone, to help.
