Hi Group,

I have a technical question. My mail server was down for 2 or 3 days

and I couldn't get mail. That is fixed now, but when I first got back

on to get my mail, there were 215 or so emails. Me, being the slightly

impatient person I am, couldn't wait until ALL the messages downloaded

and aborted half way through (i just missed you guys sooo much I

couldn't wait :D ) Anyway, when I finished with this batch of mail, I

went to retrieve again and found 400 something emails.. It hadn't been

that long and I knew this group isn't THAT talkative ... at least not

the rheumatic group (maybe the APChat he he he).

Well, after about 100 emails I aborted again to find they were

duplicates of the ones I had just read. When I deleted them all and

went back to retrieve, I found 896 emails. Now I knew something weird

was happening. I called my provider and said that sometimes support

groups will start to duplicate mail if your list fills up. Also said

that when I aborted, their system made copies assuming I hadn't wanted

to retrieve them yet (they are working on fixing the obvious problem

with that logic) and they just kept building up. Now for the question

(about time, huh) Does the rheumatic mail server make duplicates if I

don't retrieve the mail often enough? Doesn't sound right to me but

wanted an answer to be able to respond to my provider next time this

happens.

Thanks a bunch, Debra
