Guest guest
Tricia, Infections in the bile ducts are hard to control because many antibiotics don't penetrate into area which don't have blood flow. The other problem may be that you have developed resistant bacteria, which are slowed down by the antibiotics - enough to feel better - but then return quickly once it is gone. Testing can be done to determine what antibiotic would best treat your particular infection. You should ask your doctor if that is advised because of your recurrent infections (it does involve collecting a sample for culturing, and that can't be done via a blood draw it would be an invasive procedure).
