Guest guest
Hi Folks, I too live in a place where there are no Rheumatologists. I have to drive (ride) 4 hours to see my doc,and though it's not for everyone,if my doc ever retires I will be moving in with him!(He doesn't know this yet!I'm sure he would be all for it!) He is listed in a book in Michigan of docs that other docs go to for advice, which he says doesn't mean anything. He has never been wrong when I've called with a symptom I didn't know about and he is very empathetic. If I am having a particularly bad pain day he always starts our conversation with, " I'm so sorry you're hurting " .That statement is worth every mile I have to drive, when so many docs don't even treat you for pain,or act like you're looking for meds to make you high!Anyway, I just wanted you to know that there are good docs out there, and sometimes you have to take the extra step or mile to be treated correctly. My doc knows me well so he will call in meds or tell me to go to the ER and be in touch with them, something I find priceless.Good luck I hope you find a good knowledgeable Rheumy. love Elly
