Guest guest
Hi All, My name is Gail and I have been observing your mail for a couple days and thought I should introduce myself. I was diagnosed with vv 3 years ago. Shortly after that, I asked my sister who is a nurse if she had any info on this thing. She told me she had suffered from it for 4 years already. Hadn't told a sole. Too embarrassed I suppose. She didn't want me to talk to Mom about it, but eventually I did, and guess what? Mom's wasn't near as bad. She was able to wear pants, have sex, etc., and only pain sometimes. Good news is it went away completely at menopause. At 38, that only gives me another 12 years or so, assuming I follow in her footsteps so to speak. Anyway I have tried numerous things including biofeedback, various creams, tricyclics, and diets galore. I also have chronic constipation and very low blood sugar. Mom and sis ditto. Guess it is something in the genes that causes weird hormone fluctuations. I am sure it is hormone related because in the beginning it was very cyclic. I could tell the day of my cycle by the pain (or lack thereof). I haven't found a doctor here in Charlottesville who has a clue yet, but have an appointment next week with one recommended by the NVA. I have used tea tree oil on occasion and found it helpful. It is excellent for yeast (not a problem I have very often). Put a few small drops in a douche bag and fill with warm water. NEVER use it directly on the skin. It is great that way if you have an infection in a cut in your finger, but not for that sensitive vagina. After the douche I get a nice warm sensation, but have always felt better. This is especially good after sex (assuming anyone is ever able to have sex). It seems to rebalance things and reduce the soreness afterwards. I haven't been able to have sex for some time because my pain is so bad so I haven't used the tea tree. My sister didn't like the tea tree, but I don't know how strong a solution she used. Good luck and healing wishes to everyone, Gail
