are you getting medications for your pain issues?  If so you might need them

changed or increased or added to.  It's hard to say without really knowing what

medications you are taking.  One of the main things is to take your meds when

you should.  Don't wait until your pain is to the point you can't take it any

more.  If you do that it takes more medication and a longer time period for them

to even start  working.  Take it as soon as your pain starts.  If you are on any

medications that don't help speak up, the dr. won't know unless you tell them.

Get some rest when ever you can.  You'll be surprised how just a few minutes

of rest will refresh you for hours.

I hope I was able to help at least a little bit.

, first of all, welcome. And I'm so sorry about your mother. :-(

As for what to do, it is more a question of what not to do. Remember you can't

get in there with your Mom and take her pain-matter of fact that is exactly what

you shouldn't do.

Whatever your spiritual beliefs are, utilize *them*.

Send Mother healing and love, but also separate yourself psychically speaking.

Relax as best you can.you're allowed to.

Send all fears and anger to a Higher Power that can take it all, and more.

If you pray, pray for your Mother.

But let All-That-Is/God/Goddess/Great Spirit handle it.

You don't have to do it all yourself.

Have you been to a rheumatologist and pain managment specialist recently? Maybe

some or different medication is in order.

Make sure *you* practice self-care all the more now.

Soothing baths, massages if you can handle them.

Watch comedies if you watch movies or TV-sounds odd maybe, but when we're

laughing, our immune systems work better, and we feel less pain.

If it's not something your body can't handle, take magnesium-calcium or

dolomite-they are naturally calming.

I used to receive accupuncture which didn't help my pain that much :-) but *did*

help a lot when I asked for it for terrible anxiety, and also lifted depression

for me!

These are things that have helped me. I hope you'll find what you need to help

you through this time.

Gentle hugs,

A.

I am new to the group and need some advice

Hi,

I am new to the group and have enjoyed reading all of the posts . . . knowing

that I am not the only one out there.

I recently found out the my mom's cancer has returned and there is not much

doctors can do. I never realized that such difficult news would cause such

hardship on my body. I was in relentless pain yesterday and I could not even

lay down, because of the pressure of the bed on my body was too much to bear.

What do some of you do in times such as this? How do you relax enough to not

get sent to bedrest? I have three children and an in-home childcare . . .

Any stress, good or bad, drains energy away from us.  So, in these trying times

you will need to especially care for your nutrition and sleep lots.  The

opposite actions will be tempting you but you must sleep more and be sure to eat

good food.  In situations like this snack foods are readily available and the

good stuff not so much but you must be vigilant and take care of you.

I hope this helps.
