Trouble Boosting Thyroid Levels? Check for Celiac

by Dr. Teitelbaum

Unable to get your thyroid levels up despite treatment? If you have Hashimoto's

Thyroiditis, this suggests the possibility of a genetic wheat allergy called

celiac disease — which is present in about 2-4% of those with CFS and

fibromyalgia. Here's how I'm now responding to this problem.

I am now testing for celiac as part of my panel for new patients — because

treating this condition, if it's present, can markedly improve CFS/FMS symptoms,

too. There are two tests: 1) anti-transglutaminase IgG, and 2)

anti-transglutaminase IgA. These can be done at any lab, and give a

straightforward " yes " or " no " answer to whether or not you have celiac.
