Hi ,

I mostly use the Pure Energy Greens with MSM which is fairly light and suggests 1 teaspoon in a large glass (16oz) of water 2 – 3 times a day. It’s tolerable in taste. But I like to mix them up for variety, because they all taste bad :)

I also have Alkalive, and just recently noticed that it was 1 teaspoon in a litre of water! I’d been using my same large glass which I’m sure is half of that and probably made the taste more intense, because I really don’t like this one. So I use this one about 3 – 4 times a week for variety.

I have no idea why they all suggest different amounts, I assume it’s because the creators feel that for their specific formula it works best with different amounts of liquid (juice or water) and they’ve tested that somehow. But it could be as simple as intensity of taste, or just trying to get you to drink 3 litres of liquid throughout a day! It’s takes a bit of time to drink an entire litre, so maybe they do want you to drink it more slowly over time. Most nutritionists say that downing a glass of water all at once is not as beneficial as sipping a little bit each hour consistently.

I always start my day with a green drink (which I do drink all at once to escape the taste), it’s just the first thing I do now. If it’s the weekend and I workout during the day, I’ll have another one after the workout. And I always have one at night, time just depends on my schedule.

I think spreading it out over the day, like we do with vitamins and hormones makes sense. Your body has nutrients coming in consistently and can process them throughout the day for energy.

Subject: Green Drinks...Again...

Hi Christa, Nora, et al...

Ok, so i've been trying some different green drinks. the first i

tried was Garden of Life Perfect Food. It was dreadful, thick,

grainy, but i made my way through the bottle. Then I tried

HealthForce Nutritionals Vitamineral Green. Much better, you can mix

it eough that it is not too grainy. Requires 1-2 tablespoons per day

in water. That tasted better actually. So I finally was able to get

the Alkalive in the mail...that one only requires 1 teaspoon in a

LITER of water. Its actually much more palatable and " lighter " not so

thick and grainy like the Perfect Food formula.

Can anyone explain why the formula calls for such a small dose (1

teaspoon) compared to the other 2 that require heapping tablespoons?

It does say 3-4x/day... but still seems a smaller dose...

ps. i found a great little hand mixer, battery opperated (ok, bad for

environment) but really mixes these things well so they're not so

grainy.

Thanks Nora,

Ya, I drink them after workouts too. you'd be surprisd how good a

cold green drink tastes after a workout.

but the question: when you mix yours... is it thick and grainy or is

it like a glass of water that happens to be green and taste a little

weird? that's what the alkalive is like when mixed by the suggestion.

i tell you, i'd do them a lot more often if they weren't so thick and

grainy... like mud.

I like spreading it out too. usually i only have 2. i start mine in

the a.m. just like you. take your " medicine " early...get it out of

the way!

thanks!
