Guest guest Posted October 6, 2000 Report Share Posted October 6, 2000 The gold standard in diagnosing this disease is the balloon assisted ERCP. Bridging necrosis or fibrosis is seen in any liver disease that results in cirrhosis. So this is a non-specific finding. MRCP has shown some good results but is not the current gold standard because it is still not sensitive enough to see the small bile ducts being narrowed.
