Hi all,

yesterday i went into Toronto to see the doctor that Dr. Glazer recommended.

She took my history and i explained my current symptoms. I told her i was

taking birth control and she asked for how long, and she said it could be

related...i asked why and she said because it can thin out the tissue. She

examined me and she said my tissue wasnt thinned out much, and she tried

touching the areas with a q-tip in 2 different ways and asked if they felt

the same ...the second way hurt more...i'm just not quite sure what she was

doing differently.

She also said that when she inserted her finger at the entrance of the

vagina (i dont think she was actually touching the sensitive skin at that

point) that my muscles started involuntarily contracting/spasming around the

finger...as if to try and prevent its entry to prevent any more pain.

So she told me to use lubricant and xylocaine and to practice with my

finger, then a tampon, inserting it and trying to relax so that the area

becomes used to the idea of bieng touched.....the only thing is, if its

happening involuntarily (her words), then how am i supposed to make myself

relax? ( i guess i just thought of this now or i would have asked her

myslef)

She also said that if she had to put a name (diagnosis) to it that she would

say I have vestibulitis. She recommended that I try biofeedback when they

get a program for it started (hopefully in the summer). She also described

Kegel exercises I am supposed to do for ten minutes a day. She mentioned

surgery as a last option, but she said that because of my muscle spasms, I

have to make sure they treat the right problem, and I guess removing the

sensitive skin might not help the spasms...?

hoping I am finally on the very long winding road to recovery,
