I got a 47 too! I do not feel the test is perfect though in that i am very empathetic in certain ways and more aspy in others.....

I have done it several times (just to make sure!) and keep getting scores around

9-12. Yes, I am diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, so those scores are no

surprise to me.

well, if you haven't done so already:

Score of 32 or higher indicates significant Asperger qualities, to a similar

degree to a person diagnosed with the condition.

It sounds from what your scores ended up that you might want to look a bit closer at the Aspie possibility! I had not even heard of this until I joined this group in the last few weeks. However it does seem to fit me exactly especially when I look back to my childhood.Sent from my iPad

I would think that a diagnosis would be helpful as they have resources that can help deal with things and then you'd be more likely to see what's going on in that world and pay attention as things change over time and you'd be aware. I am certainly glad that I got a diagnosis. And it helps not only with

understanding my past, but also I keep discovering things in the present ( " So

THAT'S why I feel like that ... " ).

I am in the early stages of CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) for 4S, having

completed a diagnostic assessment for Asperger's syndrome. My psychologist has a

fair degree of experience with people with sensory sensitivity, because 70-85%

of people with Asperger's have some kind of sensory sensitivity, usually

including sound sensitivity (hyperacusis, or less frequently 4S).

He was telling me this week about a client with ADHD and " proprioceptive

sensitivity " (sensitivity problems with the placement and movements of the

limbs, etc). The client couldn't sit still in the office, so they went for a

walk and ended up in the only place that the client felt comfortable:

psychologist and client both hanging upside down from a tree branch in the

nearby park!

So I reckon he does understand unusual sensory problems - and he also

specialises in Asperger's syndrome.
