Guest guest
Dear Ewelina, I would like to correct a statement made. I don't believe that Kineret is the most successful medication with Still's as many of medications are just as successful for many and I don't believe it is necessarily the most often first tried. My suggestion is to speak with your doctor about the co-pay issues and see if he/she may think of trying a more affordable medication (s). This is just my thoughts. I wouldn't want you or anyone to think there aren't many options to treat this disease. I have been on several medications over the 34 years and most with good success. I know it doesn't happen that way for many but it does for some and a good doctor will try and work with you both medically and within your lifestyle I believe to help manage your disease. Good luck and it's wonderful that this group has so many with knowlege and resourses they offer to help. Oh, also the link for needy meds on the first page of our web site www.stillsdisease.org shows most all medications used to treat Still's disease. Good evening to all, Subject: Re: kineret Kineret is just the onethat usually has the most success with Stills. That is why it is usually tried first. Others are Humera and things like that. I can't think of the list of them all right now.
Guest guest
I did not say it IS the most effective medication. I said it USUALLY works best in most cases (that comes from my RD). And that is the first thing most people who are NEWLY diagnosed NOW seem to be trying when they are put on a biologicfor Still's these days. NO, it does NOT do the job for everyone, but it IS a first line of defense when the disease is. Active enough to warrant a biologic medication. I never said EVERYONE HAS to. Start with Kineret. It works byblocking the particular protienproduced by the immune system, otherwise they would not een bother trying it. I was passing on what my RD said. I was in no way implying that there were not other treatment options. I even said there were others.I just said I could not remember them all at the time...
