If your Stills is THAT active, you will HAVE to find a biologic that

properly supresses your immune system. Kineret is one such medication. There

are others. Kineret is just the onethat usually has the most success with

Stills. That is why it is usually tried first. Others are Humera and things

like that. I can't think of the list of them all right now. They work by

supressing the immune system's ability to produce a certain protien. This

protien causes the bodies immune response, hence Stills. That is a very over

simplified version, but they are all pretty much the same. I combine Kineret

and MTX injections. I was not symptom free with Kineret alone, and I am not

symptom free now. No one I have heard is completely synptom free. You cannot

get rid of Stills, but you can, at some point, hope to get it to a level you

can DEAL with it. I will tell you...you WILL have to learn to live with

handfulls of pills. There is no magical pill, or joint for that matter, that

will make it all better. Even when you get the dragon under control, you

will still have days you feel like you will never make it through. YOU ARE

NOT ALONE! Hopefully the specialist will have better news for you. Good

luck!

kineret

april,thank you

im guessing the prednisone helped with the chest pains now that i think

about it, because ive been on pred for over 2 weeks now.

everything is soo frustrating, swelling hasn't gone down yet, im gaining

weight like crazy, i feel like im constantly eating.

i can finally sleep at night tho thanks to zanaflex but after 6.5 hrs

exactly i wake up from all the pain. i also take vicodin during the day when

i cant stand the pain anymore but it doesn't completely get rid of it. i

hate taking all of those pills, but it looks like this is to only way to

deal with it now.

ive been on kineret for about a month, and i don't think its fully working

yet. i have fevers, rashes n pain every day.

is anyone symptom free and taking kineret? maybe instead of wasting my time

with kineret i should move on and try something else?

i finally got in to c a u of m specialist in ann arbor, mi, maybe they will

find a way to help me in some other way to get rid of this thing. ;-/

since all of these meds are so expensive does anyone know anybody who uses

medical marijuana ? isnt that cheaper, or better or is it a sham ? i found a

lot of informations about antiinflammatory properties when it comes to

medical cannabis but, i dont really believe it. does anyone smoke it and

could swear that its real?

Have you tried injecting in different locations? For instance, I am more

likely to have swelling at the injection site if I inject on my leg but

almost never if I inject on my abdomen.

kineret

Hi I have some questions about kineret that I hope maybe you can help me

with. I have tried Kineret for 3 wks and it was like a miracle drug.

However, the injection sites were so swollen and itchy I stopped taking the

injections for 2 wks. All my symptoms came back so I tried it again for 3

wks. same thing happened so I stopped again. Now my doctors are telling me

to try it again in combination with methotrexate. I am also on medrole too.

Do you have any suggestions to stop itching or swelling. I have tried icing

before the injection, taking the meds out an hr before. I know it is not a

histamine reaction, so none of theantihistamine drugs or creams work. I only

wish I could tolerate the itching. Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

Thanks April for responding. Yes, I rotate from my leg, arm, and abdomen, and I

still get the same reaction. The reaction lasts about 4 days before the itching

subsides and leaves a large red spot where the injection was. I have never tried

kineret while on Methotraxate. Do you have any information if the combination of

the two along with prednisone make any difference?

Hi a,

I had the same problem and my doc had me rub cortisone cream on the area 30

minutes prior to injecting. He also recommended having me see the allergist so

that he can give me small doses and get me used to the injection to avoid

reactions. Good Luck to you.
