I'll try that .

The thing is my doctor did try a special authorization for it and they( the

insur co) refused it.

He'd have to say I have narcolepsy or shift-work disorder.

I can ask again but he didn't seem to want to bend the rules a bit.

This doctor is a very nice man about my own age, easy going and not a jerk.

But unfortunately, I don't think he believes in Fibromyalgia.

He keeps thinking I should exercise more, which *would* help, but it will *not*

cure me. He wants me to go to water aerobics or at least to swim, and I would

but have no car and never needed(before now) to drive. I lived in NYC all my

life and didn't need to.

Now I'm in a medium/small city in the south and everything is quite different

here.

Anyway, he didn't say absolutely no to Ritalin but hasn't given it to me yet

either. (?)

Thanks for sharing information .

Re: I miss reading books. Re: Medicare and Provigil

You probably didn't appeal enoguh times. if you keep at it,

eventually, you can get them to pay for just about anything (except

benzodiazepines and barbiturates, since they are excluded from

medicare Part D). If you and your doctor provide enough documentation

and you've tried (or it would be unsafe for you to try) the formulary

alternatives, they should cover it, eventually.

I'll look into it GG, thank you :-)

because no, I hadn't known about it.

Once I had this condition, I had a hard time finding good doctors, even in NYC,

where I was born and where I lived until 2 1/2 yrs ago.

But for anyone who is in or close to New York City, I actually did find an

*excellent* rheumatologist who in turn referred me to a good and accepting pain

management specialist he knew and recommended.

But after only one & a half yrs our house burned down and we left for Florida

where my husband has family.

So to answer your question, I'm now in Panama City, Florida, which is in the

" Panhandle " or Emerald Coast.

If you never heard of it,(I had not prior to coming here)

it's about 90 miles west of the capitol, Talahassee in NorthWest FLA.

Thank you again.

K.

Not sure where you live and not sure if you have seen this resource?:

It can be a little outdated, but I found it helpful.
