Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who responded regarding Spiriva and understanding bronch. Also, thanks for the clarification on the sputum volume. I've mainly been concerned because my sputum used to be about half the size that it is now. I've been taking erythromycin for about 6 months for anti-inflammatory properties which really helped diminish the sputum production. But about a month ago my sputum production really increased and I had to take Levaquin to quell my symptoms. While my sputum has decreased, it still hasn't gone back to how it was before the exacerbation; plus, I seem to have more episodes of spitting up blood streaks. So now I'm wondering whether my sputum has gone up (more consistently thicker, yellower, bigger) because the erythromycin is no longer working, because the last exacerbation caused further lung damage, or because the weather is hotter and may cause more dehydration? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is it typical to have months of less sputum and then all of a sudden your sputum is consistently thicker, yellower and bigger for months (without any other physical symptoms other than fatigue)? My doctor says to only treat when the color changes to green or if I'm feeling physical symptoms. But it's scary to see the mucus so thick, big and yellow when it used to be consistently less thick, big and yellow for months. It's also scary to see more blood streaks. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Cassie
