Guest guest
Hello Angie, sorry you're here but you found a great group of people. You asked if Stills is hereditary, and going off of everything I've heard and read the answer would have to be no, but than again who knows for sure??? I've had this since January of 2004, but it most likely started in July of 1990 while in the Army. They lost my medical records...so that is a lost cause. Like you, Stills is the best " fit " for my symptoms except for the indescribable headaches that flatten me for days on end.......but than again there are a number of people here who also suffer from headaches, but none to the same degree as mine that I know of. I'm from NE Pa......I'm married with 2 sons, soon to be 14 & 11 (youngest has his birthday in late July and the oldest has his birthday in mid/late August) and a nutty Lab/Mastiff mix of a dog. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Angie, I can almost assure you that people here will not try to compare their type of arthritis with what you are going through. It can be extremely frustrating to explain this rare disease to anyone without knowledge of it. It is hard to explain in one sitting. On the group’s web page, there was a place to request some brochures that explain Still’s and are handy to give out to friends and family. I myself have a 29 year old daughter diagnosed with AOSD about 9 years ago. She has lost out of much living of life where she should have been having fun. The odd thing is that my daughter and I have such similar symptoms, and my diagnosis are ’s Disease, Fibromyalgia (daughter has this too), Osteoarthritis, degenerative joint disease, Osteoporosis, Asthma, Migraines and more. We will take good care of you and give you all the support we can here. From all the different support groups I’m on, I have found that the people with Still’s suffer some of the worst, and complain the least. They keep a positive attitude and try to forge ahead. Hopefully together this can happen... My Best, From: AngieB Sent: Monday, June 11, 2012 5:55 PM To: Stillsdisease Subject: New to Group~! Hi everybody...I'm new to the group and was diagnosed with " probable " Stills disease 5 years ago...I still have doubt sometimes if this is really what it is..but my symptoms seem to fit pretty snug into the Stills category so I go with it...one of my concerns with this is my Grandmother has had similar symptoms as mine...joint ache and pain, elevated white count with low red count, good days and bad days, her hematoligist diagnosed her with " a non-life threatening " form of leukemia and lukocytosis... and now my oldest daughter is having some issues like mine, high white counts, enlarged spleen, elevated liver enzymes, joint ache and pain...I have not read anywhere if Stills is believed to " run " in families...but it seems incredibly odd that 3 of the 4 generations present with very similar symptoms~! I am so happy to be in this group...where people understand what is going on...I get so frustrated when I try to explain my condition and as soon as they hear the word " Arthritis " come out of my mouth...I get a response of " ohh yeah, I have arthritis too " ...I have many more questions and looking forward to talking some more~!!! Guest guest
Angie, Just wanted to mention that although I suggest at the end of my post that many of us keep a positive attitude and forge ahead, it’s ok to just VENT! Also, complaining is ok too! Just so you know, Peace, Joy, and Love, From: Sent: Monday, June 11, 2012 10:17 PM To: Stillsdisease Subject: Re: New to Group~!
