Hi .

I can't tell you about Enbrel as I can't take it. I have MS and can't take

a TNF inhibitor. I am on Kineret. I have been on it for several years.

The first time I tried it, I had to quit because the reaction sites were

so itchy and inflamed. I had to ice it down, and put cream on it before I

took the shot, and over time I adjusted to it. I now take the shot without

thinking about it any more. It's worked well for me so far. I still get

flares, and have pain, but not as bad as they were. Several years ago I

had to go to the hospital for every flare as I'd vomit so much and

dehydrate. Now I take Kineret, and prednisone, and pain meds for the

Still's and many other meds for my damaged heart, etc.,

So, I hope that helps. If you have trouble with the kineret, have your doc

go over the tips for icing you shot area, etc., because that really helped

me.

Good luck and I hope something helps you. I feel SO lucky to be on

Kineret... it turns out the doc who invented it works at UCDenver

hospital.. so i wrote him a thank you note for making my life possible!

That was fun.

Peace and Blessings to all,

Love,

Hello , I've been on Kineret since 2007. I still have breakthrough pain,

swelling and rash. These episodes aren't to any extent like they were before i

started it. I have more problems with itching everywhere. I can get out of bed

and do for myself more than i could without it. Prednisone induces diabetes for

me, so i only take it if i absolutely have to. My injections are once daily and

i do have skin areas that Dermatologist says are a reaction to Kineret. The

benefit of the injection far out weighs the rash. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,

C

Hi I have some questions about kineret that I hope maybe you can help me with. I

have tried Kineret for 3 wks and it was like a miracle drug. However, the

injection sites were so swollen and itchy I stopped taking the injections for 2

wks. All my symptoms came back so I tried it again for 3 wks. same thing

happened so I stopped again. Now my doctors are telling me to try it again in

combination with methotrexate. I am also on medrole too. Do you have any

suggestions to stop itching or swelling. I have tried icing before the

injection, taking the meds out an hr before. I know it is not a histamine

reaction, so none of theantihistamine drugs or creams work. I only wish I could

tolerate the itching. Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

Hi Holly,

Could you please tell me what kind of cream you used before injecting Kineret,

Did you put the cream on after you cleaned the area with alcohol?

Dear a,

I am so sorry you are having such a bad reaction to the kineret. I

struggled and struggled with it and finally won, but it took a lot. I iced

the injection site and was told to put a thin layer of Triamcinolone 0.1%

cream (prescription) on the site twice a day. I think it's a steroidal

cream. I'm pretty sure I iced the injection site before and after the

injection. I can't recall if I did anything else, but I am certain I was

also taking prednisone orally as well as the steroid cream. I would also

take hydroxizine for the itching and it helped. I wish I could tell you

how long it will take to adjust to it, I know I did the whole routine for a

long time, maybe a year or more before I tried to take a shot without all

the precautions because the kineret helped and I really didn't want to have

to reject it. Because the injections were tolerable with all the

shenanigans I used, I was very surprised one day when I simply didn't have

ice or access to anything cool, to find I no longer needed the ice. The

cream I only used for a short time, 2-3 months or so, I think.

Good luck, a! If I remember any other magic potions, I'll be sure to

let you know!

Hi Holly,

Thank you so much for the information. It is so great to hear from someone who

understands what I am about to go through again. Thank you so much!!!!I am

having severe problems with my stomach now from the medrol and methotrexate that

I am going to try and get that under control before I have to deal with the

itching of the kineret.

I am very happy for you that you have all the symptoms under control. You are

very fortunate.

If I remember any other magic potions, I'll be sure to

let you know!
