Guest guest
Laurie, Some of the categories are pretty clear cut, e.g. Bilirubin > 10 adds 2 to base score. The first two, Encephalopathy and Ascites, are more subjective. Having sleep disorders may be sufficient to get you into the " not normal " category 1. If you in the minimum affected range in all 5 areas, your CTP is 10, the criteria for Status 2B. Tim See: http://www.unos.org/About/policy_policies03_06.htm --- Oceandrmer@... wrote: > Good idea. Guest guest
Tim-- So if my bilirubin is not bad, then there's no point in computing the score? It seems like that's a pretty high priority to being listed. Laurie
Guest guest
Laurie, Since a baseline CTP score is 5, you can be " normal " on two measures if you are high on two and indicating on the other. For me, bilirubin gave +2, albumin was 0.1 from +2, I was indicating on ascites and PT - not sure of encephalopathy added anything. Your bilirubin doesn't have to be over 4 to get a CTP of 10, look at your other levels and check the 4 other qualifiers for status 2: 1) documented unresponsive variceal bleeding 2) kidney damage 3) single episode of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis 4) severe persistent ascites Being status 2 isn't any bed of roses. But if that's what it takes to get listed by your doc, then be sure that you aren't required to go beyond the minimum requirements. Are you still managing your job at court? Never heard that you stopped entirely. Guest guest
Tim-- Yes, I'm still working. Although today I only managed 5 hrs. Went in at 10:00 & started feeling really ill by 2:30. So came home, slept & just got up a little bit ago. Itching something awful for past several wks now. As far as the other factors re: CTP score you mentioned, that isn't my case, so I guess that's that. I think it's strange that they don't allow for other things when scoring: enlarged & still enlarging spleen, enlarged kidney, enlgd liver, cirrhosis, inability to eat well & gain weight; lack of energy & ability to carry on normal life style. Oh well, I guess they're in the driver's seat. (sigh)
