Guest guest
I'm on synthroid at the moment and was going to switch to Armour but found out that my RT3 and fT3 radio stinks. So, I guess it's off the Synthroid. If I'm off the synthroid for a while (whilst doing adrenal support) wouldn't the RT3 clear by itself? If there is no longer T4 turning into RT3 wouldn't that work or is the wishful thinking? Maybe this is an obvious question but I guess I should get off all T4 while doing adrenal support, right? Will the Hashi's go crazy if someone does that?
Guest guest
One of the flaws in this thinking is that, even if you stop taking any T4 (from synthroid or armour), your own body is, presumably, going to be producing some T4, which it can then convert to RT3. Also, if you just stop taking all thyroid supplements, there is the possibility that you will run short of all the thyroid hormones, especially T3. What people do when they have high RT3, which blocks the receptors which allow the real T3 to be taken into the tissues of the body, is to stop all T4 supplementation and allow the build up of the T4 to decrease so that, hopefully, the receptors will clear and the real T3 will be able to be used by the body. Most people who have this problem are hypothyroid and need to take T3 only (cytomel) in order not to become terribly hypothyroid while they are reducing the RT3, which takes at least 8 weeks.birrdyy wrote: I'm on synthroid at the moment and was going to switch to Armour butfound out that my RT3 and fT3 radio stinks. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply but I'm still confused. So do you take synthroid with the cytomel so you can still get T4? Am I reading your comments incorrectly? Val said I should be off all T4 so now I'm confused. I know to take Cytomel you need good adrenal support which I don't yet have. So what should I do? Stay on Synthroid until adrenals are better than get off synthroid an onto Cytomel? > I'm on synthroid at the moment and was going to switch to Armour but > found out that my RT3 and fT3 radio stinks. Guest guest
Thank you Val. May I just double check because I can't seem to get this. Should I be on nothing while doing adrenal support (maybe a month) or should I stay on the synthroid while doing adrenals? This is what I can't get answered. The other gal that responded said being on nothing isn't good either so I'm sooooo confused. > > You need to stopp taking ANY med that contains T4 then take enough T3 to > supress your OWN production of T4 thus your body will not have T4 to > make more RT3 from. Guest guest
Thank you, that's exactly what I needed. Much appreciated. > > If already on Synthroid I would stay on it till you get the adrenals > functioning better, then slowly switch to T3. > > -- > Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV > > http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ > http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ > http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets >
