Guest guest
Yes most of us, but not all, seem to have OCD, anxiety, depression, etc. I was told that It is normal when you have one problem to also have more than one. People with Tourettes have mroe than one generally. People that are depressed usually have more than one disorder too. Others on here have been diagnosed with Aspergers, Tourettes, etc. To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Saturday, January 7, 2012 2:34 PM Subject: Anxiety disorders + OCD Hi everyone,My original post was deleted by accident, so I thought I'd repost it:I was wondering if many other people with Misophonia also suffer from somewhat-related issues, especially anxiety disorders.Along with Misophonia, I'm also currently working on getting diagnosed for a few things, what I believe are: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and Atypical Depression.I do not know what came because of Misophonia for me, or would have been an issue anyway. Most likely the anxiety and depression came as a result of/were worsened by the Misophonia, but I think I've always had minor OCD tendencies (such as worrying obsessively about symmetry). Some of my issues with OCD also seem to have blended with my misophonic triggers.Does anyone else suffer from depression or an anxiety disorder along with Misophonia? I also wonder if finding out the rate of co-occurrence of these issues would give some clue as to what causes/effects Misophonia... Perhaps some of these things are related? I've heard theories that Misophonia is an overlooked symptom of OCD, or that Misophonia is an anxiety disorder in and of itself. Not saying this is definitely the case, but it's an interesting and possibly useful way of looking at Misophonia. Thoughts? The amount of people that have responded that they also have obsessive/compulsive behaviors (sadly most of those responses have been deleted as well) really makes me wonder if there's a connection with Misophonia... Maybe a survey is in order?Meridian

Guest guest
Please do not take offense but I don't think it's accurate to say most but not all have ... Out of 2500 of us, few post.I don't have any of those things, until theres a sufficient number of people polled or research done, who knows what the average is. Guest guest
I have to back Heidi on this. Even though some may have some anxiety or hypervigilance or depression, there are many more who don't. Would it be a result of being misophonic or a separate issue? Also, what percentage of the Misophonic population has been counted? My bet is that there are many many more of us out there who may or may not have co-morbidity issues. It's tempting to make statements like that but we really can't. I absolutely do appreciate you using the disclaimer " seem to . . . " it's just that so many people (including those who want to call us mental) will look past that and use your statement as grist for their mill! > > > Yes most of us, but not all, seem to have OCD, anxiety, depression, etc. I was told that It is normal when you have one problem to also have more than one.
