We stay in India, Bangalore. let me know if someone can help we with any

reference doctor on weight loss, as currently am on 80mg/day and the dosage will

take another 3 months to come to 20mg/day.  This was the first time we heard

about this disease. Surely will need lot of info and support from all of you in

the forum.

Help me also to know more about this disease.

Hi Liz,

The only thing that in my opinion to take off the mid section is some form or

forms of exercise.  I believe diet can only go so far for this region. At one

point I lost weight including mid section fat by going into a warm water therapy

swimming pool and doing gentle movements through the water while holding my

tummy muscles in.

I don't do well with sit ups, because it puts a strain on my neck, but think

that if a person could it would also help. Stretching by laying on the floor on

a mat or on a bed by putting our arms over the head and reaching will also

stretch it out too.

I wish there were any easier way becasue I can't seem to get rid of mine this

time as my movement is restricted and I'm not as healthy as I was before when I

was able to take off some of that middle fat. My diet had to be very strict

also, with no sugar, low carbs, and fresh veggies and protein with some fruit.

Otherwise that is where I pack on the pounds too.

Good luck to you and let us know how you are doing ok?

Best of Luck,

Hi Liz, , Sara,

I'm with you all in the quest to get this steroid weight gain off. I've been

really sick lately, and moving around is tough. Minimal exercise is all I can

handle, like walking to the bathroom and back lol.

I like the idea that people stick together and all try to help support each

other. Will you guys all be on chat tonight at 5pm Pacific Time? I will try to

show up and maybe we can exchange ideas. I haven't clicked on the links here

about mid section pilates stuff but I plan to and see if that helps.

I just need to stabalize from being so sick. I was in the hospital last week for

a viral infection they never identified. It just brought on lots of diahhrea,

vomiting and I even lost 6 pounds. I thougth maybe that was a head start to

loosing more, but then got an asthma attack, and bladder infection and don't see

the scale moving. Oh it moves, but not in the right direction.

Anyway, I know how discouraging this can be and I'm there with you all.

Especially the mid section. I have girlfriends who struggle with the midseciton

who don't even take steroids. It must be a woman thing. I'm starting probiotics

today, for the antibiotic I've been put on to help the diahhrea, and I'm curious

to see if I feel any different.

I need more energy to be able to get my body moving so that I can shape it into

being the body more like I would like to have. Also, I can imagine moving around

easier and getting more done with less weight to carry around. I figure a

bowling ball is about 8 pounds on the light side of bowling balls, and thinking

of carrying around just one gives me the creeps to think that I'm putting that

much strain on my body.

I would like to loose about 9 bowling balls lol. 72 lbs. A drop in the bucket

right. So from being ill this week, I almost lost a bowling ball and don't feel

much different. I guess it's going to take more than one to feel the effects.

Probably being sick is also causing the extra discouragement. I thought perhaps

I could wait unitl the last minute and hop over to the convention in Las Vegas

if it worked out, but I can see know that it being Wednesday, and feeling like I

do that it isn't going to happen.

I was on the fence about money anyway, and didn't know if it'd work out, and you

know how you get that feeling in the back of your mind like you just know? I

kind of had a hunch that this year was going to be a no go. Sad, but part of

accepting our life with illness. Oh by the way, I am not the one with Still's,

it's my 30 year old daughter. I have other auto immune disorders, addisons,

polyglandular autoimmune, cfids, fibro, osteo arthritis, osteoporosis asthma and

more, which the symptoms are all so similar. My daughter and I have so many

similarities, it's unreal. She however is too sick to be on the support group

herself. I take info and pass it back to her and so on.

Overall this is the best group I have found with people who really try to move

ahead and past the troubles the illness causes and find positive help. There is

the most postitive outlook from people here at Still's support.

I'm so glad to be a part of the group and accepted. For all those Mom's and

relatives of Still's patients, I commend you for doing this on behalf of your

loved one who is ill. Feel free to speak up with the concerns you may have,

everyone here is so compassionate.

Love to all,

a meal replacement. It's my understanding that your body metabolizes liquid

easier than food. I have no idea if it's going to work. Really, I'm looking to

gain nutrients and energy, and I do know it's doing that.

>

>I am going to ask my doctor about doing " Clean " by Junger (book and

website) wherein you have two liquid meals a day, and one solid meal for at

least two weeks. It is supposed to be great with autoimmune diseases and to get

rid of the toxins. I did it before I had Still's and I felt so good afterwards

(not to mention, I lost about 5 lbs a week, and it stayed off until now...)

>You can also make smoothies with Almond Milk (lower in calories than milk) and

frozen fruit. I do about 1 cup of almond milk, frozen (unsweetened)

strawberries, and about a tbl. of agave (or honey). Tastes like a Strawberry

Milkshake.

don't think it's needed. Very filling, lots of nutrients and a good meal

replacement. http://iowagirleats.com/2012/01/04/my-top-secret-diet-weapon/

>

>Also, I've been trying to do some Pilates. I really like the Mari Winsor dvds

and I try to do them on my bed. That does AMAZING things for the mid section.

I've also found some exercises that are not crunches.

I'd also like to add I am not overweight. The prednisone has just added stomach

weight. I shouldn't have to change my diet because I don't eat crappy foods. I'm

hoping with the gym 4 times a week and being at 2.5mg now that it will help.

Any ideas?

if we ask our doctors they may give us isometric exercises pamphlets to keep the

muscles toned at least. Another thing that helped me was buying a Tai Chi CD on

Amazon for Arthritis. It was a long time that I did just the warm up of 15

minutes but it moves your body easily without stress, helps with balance and

strength. Doctors have found the benefits to be much more than just for the

joints.

Hi ,

We can all figure it out together. I think starting slowly is the best bet.

Besides we have not choice if our bodies are just not wanting to cooperate!

It's nice to hear from you on the group. I'm on my way down on hydrocortisone,

and it's the same way. The doc said I could expect to feel bad and tired when

the dose dropped and I had to rest and go with it. Giving up more physical

exurtion is best while the body adjusts to the new dose or it's just going to

hold on to the weight thinking it's in a crisis, which it kind of is.

So let's keep in touch, with the other ladies on the group who are interested in

loosing steroid weight, (around the mid section), and help each other as much as

we can. I believe we can learn to stretch this and make slow concentrated

movements that will help. I need to put my money where my mouth is and do it!

I need to wait until I feel better after being in the hospital and so sick

sitll. Then I need to put my nose to the grindstone and push a little at a time.

Don't overdo, or your body will retaliate and you'll be much worse off....Good

Luck
