Guest guest
Greetings from South Texas (Corpus Christi) I am glad to see your posts. I am sorry to hear about your 14 year old pup. I have a 12 year old Rat Terrier and he has pancreatitis so there are times where he poops or vomits blood and each time I am praying that I don't have to give him up while I rush to the vet. My poor Spike has been through a lot, just like his Mom. I can't have kids (which is fine) I have my four legged babies. I have two chihuahuas, one of them has arthritis and I have to give her meds every day, and one yorkie. They all have different personalities and they take care of me when I am unable to get out of bed. I do know about depression, it became worse when I was diagnosed and I have anxiety and was diagnosed with bipolar (which is in control). I hope you feel better. I have been going through non-stop flares up for the past 11 years. I haven't had one month without being flared up. Honestly, I have gotten use to it. The doctor is hoping that the humira along with MTX will help me. I have hope. Well just wanted to drop a little note. Take care. Hugs and blessings to all, P Corpus Christi, Tx

Guest guest
Hello everyone! I am SO delighted to find this group. I regret that we're all in the same boat, but it's better to be here with company than all alone. I've never met anyone with Still's disease, and have had to tell all my various docs about it as well. I have MS as well, so for a long time the ER docs thought what was happening had to be from MS, but that didn't explain the fever, or the rash around my neck which never goes away. I am looking for a new PCP because mine doesn't believe in pain. She under prescribes and scolds me for reporting the crippling pain that prohbits movement, a common symptom to all of you, but unheard of in this corner of the West. When I went to the Mayo clinic to see their rheumatologist she told me to 'lose weight and exercise more'! So, even the hot shots miss this one, don't they! I've been following the gabapentin thread as well. It's a great medication if it works for you.. it's subtle, though, you have to take it over time before you see much of a difference sometimes. I was taking it 3xday at 1200 mg each dose. I don't know what it was doing since I was (am) on so many other meds at the same time. Now I've cut it to 600mg 3x/day and can't say I've noticed any difference. It helps with mood as well, though so it's benefits can be many. I'm on Kineret and fortunate enough to be seen in the same clinic as the doc who invented it! I wrote him a thank you note for all his hard work for such a small population. It's been a life saver for me. I suffer from depression as well as other things and have found the light therapy to be very valuable. I have a small box light made by Sphere Technologies next to 'my spot' on the couch. I use it every day for at least 45 minutes and have noticed a great improvement in my mood, and my ability to manage anxiety as well. It was not very expensive... about $50 from Amazon, and I've had many of my patients get them and they've reported positive results as well. I've gone way over-board in my introduction, but I wanted to thank you all for posting and making a welcoming group! And, not least, Mel, I'm so sorry for your poor little creature. Bless you for the care you lavished on him. Holly > > Greetings from South Texas (Corpus Christi) > > I am glad to see your posts. I am sorry to hear about your 14 year old pup.
