Hi a. Welcome to the group! My sister & I see a rheumatologist at

Massachusetts General Hospital too. When I read your introduction I wondered if

it's the same doctor. We see Dr. Mark Fisher. We still don't have a definite

diagnosis (probably Stills or genetic fever syndrome) but I am happy with Dr.

Fisher as he treats us based on our symptoms not just blood work like some

rheumatologists do. And he says he'll keep trying new meds until we find

something that works which I appreciate. My previous rheumatologist gave up on

me after a year (he couldn't find a diagnosis and didn't want to treat me when

my sed rate and crp were normal at times). I'm a little bitter.  lol

I've never had to deal with effusions. Sounds like you've had a pretty rough

time. I hope you are able to find a treatment plan that works for you!

Hi Audrey,

I am going to Dr Stone at MGH. My heart surgeon snapped his fingers and

got me in with him right away. The first time was to do my blood work the day

before my heart surgery. Then Dr Stone thought I had fibromyalgia. I have kept

in touch with Dr Vlahakes and during my last flare he contacted Dr Stone while

we were on the phone. Dr Stone called me 1/2 hr later and we planned on coming

to Boston when more symptoms were back.

My primary care Dr did blood work that day and sent it out to Dr Stone and Dr

Vlahakes. Dr Stone called me that Sunday and arranged to see me on the Tuesday.

I am very lucky. After going through all my symptoms and current blood work he

feels it is Stills. I go back July 9th.

Do you use patient gateway ?

Hey a. I didn't realize how many rheumatologists are at MGH until I looked

on their website yesterday! Yeah I use patient gateway.  I love being able to

see all my lab results online so quickly. My primary doctor's office just

started a similar " Patient Portal. " Good luck with your appointment! Have they

started you on any meds yet?
