Hi, everyone this is a and I need to know for all those who have taken

Diflucan long term how many pills are you supposed to take every week? Are

you supposed to take one everyday for as long as you need it or do you just

take it a couple of times a week? I need to know because I'm going to get a

prescription for it for long term use and I need to know the amount I need to

take per week so I can tell my doctor how much to prescribe for me, she won't

know how much to give me. So if any of you know the answer to this question

please e-mail me.

Sincerely,

a

a,

EXCUSE ME but who is the doctor here? Why should you be the one to ask

the doctor to prescribe how much yo need. Is the doctor really sure you

hae east? Or are you trying to self medicate? Doctors like the one you

are going to make it bad for the rest f us. If you really don't have a

yeast problem and take diflucan you are going to make the natural yeast

in your body resistant to the diflucan. What that means is the next time

you really do get a yeast infection the diflucan won't work. It is the

same when someone goes to the doctor and gets antibiotics for a codl.

You don't need antibiotics for a cold so therfore when you really do

need antibiotics for an infection they won't work.

a before gettinga prescriotion for diflucan please see a Qualified

medical professional, not one who allows you to prescrivbe the

medication you really need.

Ladies?

Michele D

(My specialsit prescribed diflucan when she found from my culture that I

did have candisas albicans)

I want to reply to the letters between a and Michele...but I'm a little

hesitant because I am in no way an authority on VV, Diflucan, yeast problems,

etc. All I know is that I am sick to death of VV and want it to go away

now!! If someone told me that standing on my head in the pouring rain in

downtown Manhattan in a pink TuTu would help me, New York here I come (after

I purchase a pink TuTu, of course!)

Seriously, I also take Diflucan because I have heard from many others that

they have been helped even though candida cannot be cultured. And every

single thing I have tried, I have had to tell my doctor's office about.

Heck, they don't even know what vuldodynia is really. When I first started

dealing with this mess, I was told to think of something besides my vulva.

That was the help I got from them! For the most part, we are on our own.

We can only suggest treatments that have helped others to our doctors because

for the most part they have no idea what to do with us. I was only able to

get 1 capsule per week for 10 weeks. I don't know if it will help, but I

need to try what I can. Anyway, in Dr. Crook's book, The Yeast Connection,

one of the doctors quoted said that even though candida organisms cannot be

consistently cultured from the vagina of patients with this syndrome,

consistent long term anti-candida therapy seems to be a successful treatment

strategy. (By the way, they also recommend changes in diet along with

antiyeast medication).

So, anyway, I can sympathize with a wanting to try Diflucan or some

other antiyeast medication. You want to try anything. With the health

insurance I have, we have to go through our primary care physician for

everything. The nurse practioner did suggest when I was in there a few weeks

ago that she can refer me to a gyn so maybe that's my next step.......

My one cent worth... Kathy
