I don't mind the low hum of electric devices. I just don't like mouth sounds.

Like if a soap opera is on, (and the people are talking) I can't stand it.

Soaps are awful. It's the sound of the saliva in their mouths that triggers me.

I know it may sound weird, but it's the truth. I don't know why those sounds

bother me so much, they just do. If I don't look at a person when they say

trigger sounds, it's still just as bothersome than if I am looking at them. I

constantly say to people (mostly family and friends), " Don't say that " and they

know exactly what I mean. As for other sounds, I don't mind pens clicking,

finger tapping or feet rubbing together (I rub mine constantly, lol). There are

many sounds that I can tolerate completely, so I guess I am luckier than some

people. :-)

like tapping or pen clicking and I hate the low hum of electrical devices. I can

tolerate the electrical sounds better because a machine has no control of how it

sounds. But when people make sounds I don't like I get angry. I can ask people

not to tap, click..ext. But I don't know how I would handle people's use of

letters. You can't excactly say please don't use the letter P around me. Does it

help if you don't look at them? If so you could train yourself to focus on

another area of their face and avoid seeing the mouth. A lot of times I will ask

people to stop tapping and they will wiggle their fingers just abouve the

surface, not actualy touching anything. This still causes me anxiety. I don't

know if it's the anticipation of apossible sound or if the visual alone makes me

upset. I'll think about it and see if I can come up with a way for these sounds

not to upset you so much. Is it just as strong if anyone does it? Or worse when

the person is closer to you.
