After reading so many posts about head injury I am now suspecting that my aversion to people chewing, repetitive movements and artificial smell may be related to a head injury i suffered at

about the same time this started. I was about 5 yo. when a kitchen cabinet I tried to climb felt on top of me hitting my head.

I find it interesting that some people with Fibromyalgia relate it's onset to accidents and traumatic experiences and then others do not have those events in their lives at all. This seems to be the pattern with Misophonia also. Some relate the onset to a physical event while others have not had any.

Fibro causes extreme pain but is not known to damage our bodies physically. (like joint diseases). Misophonia causes severe mental anguish but does not cause damage to our brains. (I don't think... correct me if I'm wrong.)

Many people tell us Fibromites that it's all in our heads. Same with Misophonians... people say get over it, it's all in your head.Others can't see the pain (or all the other horrible things that go along with Fibro). And Misophonia sufferers cannot make people realize their anguish when inflicted by " things " that most people don't even notice.

They both seem to come from neurological mishaps. The brain receiving messages in the wrong code or  something. But we can never give up trying to find that common connection.

Technically, it IS in your head--in your brain to be exact.I've had people tell me that my pain is all in my head.. I have peripheral neuropathy and POTS and I respond with " you're right, it is in my head--my brain keeps sending the wrong signals that I am in severe pain and can't shut them off.. it's a neurological disorder that starts in the brain "
