hey guys,dont mean to but in on the headphones,BUT my boss had theses electronic full ear headphones he got from home depot,. they are made by( ryobi). but they blew my mind, you put them on and somehow they block out all noises , everything is like a very faint whisper.. ffor all of us misophonia sufferere i think they would be a big help (at home anyway) . they are very inexpensive too.. iam going to get some this weekend.. will give you more info. when i get them.. god bless

When they're activated, they'll do noise cancellation, whether you are listening to music or not. Of course you can always listen to music through them as well.They work best for decreasing the volume of "white noise" -- fans, airplane engine noise, etc...Non-constant noises are only muffled a bit.One thing I've done is employ white noise to mask annoying noises, and then use noise canceling headphones to decrease the volume of the white noise.Chris>> I'm confused about noise canceling headphones. If it blocks sounds to a dull whisper, aren't they basically like ear plugs? Dr. has said that ear plugs are one of the worst things we can do with misophonia because it makes us more sensitive over time to sounds...

Thanks for the ideas and help! I like the idea of having both...there are times when near or complete silence is needed. (-:
