Guest guest
I saw an audiologist today and explained my issues, and how badly this effects my life, and my families lives, he did the test and said my actual hearing was normal, but since he doesnt have any experience with misophonia he wanted to refer me to the Cleveland CLinic. He just called and said he had talked to his colleague there and they said they wont see misophonia patients untill they have seen a physcologist. So I guess now I am being sent off to that instead.I just wish that someday this would get figured out so I could sit down at the dining room table and enjoy a dinner with my family, without having to have the tv or radio blaring in the background so that I am distracted. Guest guest
After reading your email I cannot help but finally compare this journey with mine and my latex allergy. The step of ruling out an emotional component is part of the hoops that must be jumped through to prove it to be real. These days, a latex allergy is finally understood and almost widely accepted. Back in 1998 I had to see a series of experts, some paid to write a negative report, no matter what and of course, the requisite visit to a licensed therapist. Now, in 2012, I know the journey was well worth it. Others are now diagnosed from history and some testing. No more psychological component needs to be ruled out as this allergy has proven to be very real and very fatal. Many hospitals are now latex safe. Since I have been here, some of your posts have reminded me of posts from the late 90's. I guess what I am trying to say is fight the good fight. See the specialists recommended. Document everything. Contact your legislatures and the ADA (Latex allergy is now covered by the ADA :) thanks to a group of hard working citizens).Do what ever you have to do to get the public aware of the special needs one has with this diagnosis. It is real and it will happen, I've lived to see the changes. I give you HOPE. prn had a hearing test I saw an audiologist today and explained my issues, and how badly this effects my life, and my families lives, he did the test and said my actual hearing was normal, but since he doesnt have any experience with misophonia he wanted to refer me to the Cleveland CLinic.
