Guest guest
Hi Mack, It's in San Diego? How are you and family? So Dad has to have oral surgery. The best thing to do is ask the doctor about whether he needs to stop his Kinert for a time before during or after the oral surgery. Since this drug supresses the immune system, whenever my daughter (30 years old with Still's), gets a virus, cold, infection, surgery, her doctor takes her off Kineret so that her body can heal itself. Also whenever she takes an antibiotic. It may not apply for your Dad that he needs to go off of it or it may depending on what the doctor thinks in this situation. There are more factors to weigh also that only a doctor can come up with.  Otherwise, welcome to the group. It's nice to see you posint emails. I missed chat the other night as I was hospitalized myself last week for a virus and my adrenal insufficiency was activated and I had an adrenal crisis to go along with it. I'm doing much better and my energy is coming back. I hated the hospital. I'm so glad to be home.  Good Luck to you and hope others answer back to your post also so that you have as many opinions as you can get. Everyone here is so nice and compassionate. You will love the support and know that you can come anytime with any problem to us.  Do I call you Mack?  Sending healing thoughts your way, and I am praying for your Dad, >To: Stillsdisease >Sent: Thursday, August 16, 2012 8:42 AM >Subject: Oral Sugery/Kineret/Mouth Pain > > > >Has anyone had oral surgery while on Kineret? was there any thing particular that they had to do or not do? > >Apparently my dad [very recently diagnosed with Stills] has an infection in the back of his mouth and they are possibly doing a bone scrap to lower the bone so that the tissue can grow over it more. >They said the gum beghind the last tooth might have been " worn away " by the stuff he has been eating and that he had not noticed before because of all his pain medicines... which he has only recently stopped do to other issues. > >Has anyone else had anything like this? > > > > >

Guest guest
Hello, I didn’t get your name but think this may be MJ? Either way, I did have oral surgery when on medications years ago. I always had to be pre-medicated because of steroids and then after joint replacements. I cannot say what your Father’s dentist or rheumatologist would recommend about his Mtx. I did have three teeth removed in the early years of onset and over the years after the gums receded. After I have had dentures a few years I started having extreme pain when biting down in that area. My dentist said that the nerves where so close to the surface and what was causing the pain. He sanded down my false plate and that helped some. I cannot eat much on that side of my mouth though. Replacing gum tissue was never discussed with me. I don’t even know if there would be enough. So, that is my experience that may be similar, I’m not sure. I wish your dad the best. Good day, From: mack_bond_007 Subject: Oral Sugery/Kineret/Mouth Pain Has anyone had oral surgery while on Kineret? was there any thing particular that they had to do or not do? Apparently my dad [very recently diagnosed with Stills] has an infection in the back of his mouth and they are possibly doing a bone scrap to lower the bone so that the tissue can grow over it more. They said the gum beghind the last tooth might have been " worn away " by the stuff he has been eating and that he had not noticed before because of all his pain medicines... which he has only recently stopped do to other issues. Has anyone else had anything like this?

Guest guest
I've broken many of the teeth in my mouth (a few were literally exploded) due to my bad habit of clinching my jaw when in tremendous pain due to the damn headaches I get that no one has an answer for. I've had a few teeth that were way beyond saving and had them extracted while on Kineret with no adverse effects. One tooth was so destroyed they had to surgically remove the pieces. The part that makes me sick is that I always had a very nice set of teeth, and like most everything else in my life...those days are gone!
