Guest guest
I find it very hard to be around my family, friends (and everyone). I know I drive them crazy by constantly saying " Don't say that " whenever they say a P, C, K or G word. My dad had throat cancer about 10 years ago, and the radiation killed his saliva glands. However he still makes annoying mouth sounds (although he does not mean to annoy). He has to chew gum 24/7 to help moisten his mouth, and that's ok, but when I was in the car today with him today, the sound of it drove me nuts. It sounds like he still has saliva in his mouth, despite the radiation killing his saliva glands. Plus he's constantly clearing his throat, which gets annoying after a while because it's repetitive. Repetitive noises bug me because I can only listen to sounds for so long before saying, " Ok! Enough! " I was tested a long time ago for Hyperacusis by an expert here in San Diego, who concluded that I didn't have it. Dr. Olsson was his name. I am hoping to get a new set of white noise generators, but I don't have the money for them. My parents are not rich, so I am afraid to ask them for help, as they're already helping me out financially as much as they can. I would get a job if I could stand to be around other people speaking, but I can't. I have been getting SSI benefits for a long time, and I also have a 4 year old son.
