Guest guest
Hi PW (or ?) For me this tape brought back awful feelings, even though I really can't remember most of what nada said to me during her rages. But the tone of anger, severe dissappointment and pain was so so familiar, as was my reaction of fear, guilt and feeling horrible about who I am. In a way, I found this tape a good exercise in recalling the type of treatment that has led me to be the way I am. And the reaction of the court was validation that this type of treatment is wrong. I feel sorry for Ireland. I don't think either of her parents have her best interest in mind. I think that Kim and Alec both seem dysfunctional, and I just hope for her that she manages to come out of her childhood with as little damage as possible. Melany > > Wow...I can't speculate how the girl feels, but the anger and rage behind > the message ring so true for me. Brings back a lot of unwanted memories. > Funny how the public attacks the victim (Bassinger) and glorifies the vilan > (Baldwin). > > PW
Guest guest
> > If thats the case makes one wonder how " nice " Dr. Phil is at home??? > Food for thought > I agree. Also, even if he hasn't heard of the possible underlying disorder, he should at minimum recognize this message as verbal abuse. I did not see the Dr. Phil show that addressed this issue, but I'm wondering (based on what I've read here) why he did not focus his energies on denouncing verbal and emotional abuse and discussing the effects of family dysfunction on children. Maybe I'm biased, but the effects on Ireland of the whole situation seem much more important in terms of psychology than going on about whether or not the tape should have been leaked. Guest guest
thats true... Jackie being as " big " a public figure as he is I would have a hard time believing he wouldnt know about it. Was just thinking tho that you never hear him labeling people on his show with disorders hes more about how to help fix the unwanted behaviors/thinking, so seems like he looks at it with a different point of view. and of course if he didnt have a bpd person in his immediate life he might not identify with the effects it really has like we do. just some speculations. Guest guest
, and all, According to Dr. Phil's wife's book, he is a super husband and father. I didn't see Dr. Phil's show on Alec Baldwin's problems. I do think that maybe the best thing that could happen to Ireland is for this to have become public. Maybe she will get some help in regard to dealing with her severly dysfunctional parents. My mother IS like Alec Baldwin, and will probably go to her grave that way. I used to think Alec Baldwin was one of the best looking men in Hollywood, His mouth and attitude make me think of him as disgusting now. If he is a BPD, can you imagine the pain he inflicted on Kim????????? Maybe she is co-dependent? maybe she is also BPD or severly dysfunctional. There are some real problems there that need major addressing, especially for Irelands sake. The children in this type of situation are always the ones that suffer. Janie P.S. Dr. Phil's wife's book is a really good book, well worth reading. junkinthere wrote: > > If thats the case makes one wonder how " nice " Dr. Phil is at home??? > Food for thought > I agree. Guest guest
I, too, used to be a huge Alec Baldwin fan -- When he was first on Knot's Landing, I knew he had something special. He stole the show! Then, he passed the next " level " of what makes a good actor: Being able to do a great job guest-hosting Saturday Night Live. He was brilliant! Not all actors can do it well, but he is one of the rare few. Just goes to show you: you need the whole package -- you can be a gifted actor, gifted politician, super intelligent or whatever, but being emotionally intelligent is key to a well-rounded life. The other God-given gifts can be overrun by a personality disorder gone amok. -Kyla > > > > If thats the case makes one wonder how " nice " Dr. Phil is at home??? > > Food for thought > > > > I agree. Guest guest
Glad to hear someone else feels the same way about Alec Baldwin as I did/do. Guest guest
my personal opinion is Baldwin is an a-hole and his rambiling seems like BPD but you know there are a number of other diosrders and conditions which resemble BPD. We cant diagnose too much just from one recording made public. However his comment " parental alienation " is something classic to anyone on the B cluster of disorders to claim that thier ex partners are doing. If i was Kim i would damn sure do what it takes to keep my daughter away from Alec Baldwimp.

Guest guest
i doubt this is the first time that baldwin has spoken to his daughter this way....this stuff doesn't just come out of no where all of a sudden....if kim is the one who leaked it, perhaps she felt that it was the only way she could stop the abuse...baldwin is a very wealthy man and can surely buy his way in court...the courts had not previously limited his visitation for no reason....baldwin has been seen ranting about other subjects on tv....he made fun of his daughter's dance routine on letterman recently and made her out to be clumsy buffoon....gee....come to think of it....baldwin kinda has a clumsy buffoon aire about him....(i know my fada loves to project)....the daughter appears to be a beautiful young lady and i'm sure this is threatening to baldwin on so many levels....as far as alienation goes, most children know the truth about a parent even if one parent says unflattering, untrue, unkind things about the other, both my parents used these tactics on me and it just made me smart enough to make up my own mind....i believe that if baldwin were a kind and loving parent, his daughter would want to talk to him....if she couldn't make it to the phone, a kind and loving parent's message would sound like " hi sweatheart, sorry i missed you, call me when you can...love you " .... i hope the best for them all. to hear of this happening among such successful and talented people is an opportunity to increase awareness and dialogue about pd's in general...i've had a bpd dad for 44 years and i only heard about it 2 weeks ago....i was always reading books to cure my depression and my co-dependency....LOL > > my personal opinion is Baldwin is an a-hole and his rambiling seems > like BPD but you know there are a number of other diosrders and > conditions which resemble BPD.
