Dear Leona & Dick:

I don't write very often, mainly reading the goings on in the PSC Group Page. I was diagnosed in early 2000 with PSC, and am only in Stage 1 so I am mostly interested in the future of the disease. What prompted me to write is the good that your son did.

In this world, it is a rare thing to find someone who will go out of his way purely out of the goodness of his heart to help a stranger, a friend, or even a relative. I live in New York State, and although our parents raised us the same way, living in today's world often hardens us to the misfortunes of others. However, your note about your son gave me cause to smile and to again see the real meaning of Christmas.

You should be proud of him! I am, and I am merely a stranger! Please share my sentiments with your son.

Sincerely,

Gerber, Rochester, NY

Good Samaritan

This has nothing to do with our disease but I am so proud of my son I am popping my buttons. I have a niece, new to the city and a single mother. She is employed in Home Care and really needs her car to get around. Last week her car broke down and she was unable to go to work. She was going to lose her job as her clients are dependent on her and at the last moment it is difficult to get someone to replace her. Her parents are in Texas (but she does have a married sister here). She phoned her Mum and Dad wanting to know what she could do as she didn't have money to fix it. They phoned us but we were out so phoned my son to see if he knew where she could have it fixed on credit. My Rick picked up the car, had it repaired, paid for it, then washed the car and filled it with gas. He won't tell how much it cost. My brother would repay him but he said it was no big deal. He is not rich, has his own family and as you all know expenses can be high this time of year. My sister in law said he sure puts back the meaning of Xmas .

Just a proud Mom, Leona
