We don't have a regular chat time that we get together for. What I have

found useful and fun is using yahoo messenger. It is a free download that

you to not only chat one-on-one, but you can also create a temporary private

Welcome back to BFL Rob! If you lost 100 lbs the first time, maybe we

should be asking you questions. That is awesome!

Rob,

It's always good to see the lost find their way back. :) Welcome!

At times, life can deal us some pretty difficult hands. I, too, have

had lots to be depressed about over the last couple of years, but I

partially attribute my keeping from deeper depression to some of the BFL

techniques for keeping a positive mindset and seeking & celebrating

progress.

One of the keys I have found to overcome those depressive, negative

feelings that seem to choke me, is to have my mind occupied & alert and

my body well exercised and tired. Having clear goals helps keep the

mind occupied & physical activities and the BFL exercises seem to take

care of tiring my body.

Now, all my psycho-babble aside... The great part is you know it can be

done. The challenge is making it happen. To that means...

You can do it. We can help! {As stolen from the Home Depot ads. :) }

Firstly, hitting my daughter never would happen. I'm a neophite, so I need

specific advise. Does hypnosis work or White noise, Pink noise? But, just

leaving the environment is not a real answer. You can't be normal doing that. I

don't want to make anyone mad, but that can't be the only answer. You can't all

just move into a convent and take a vow of silence.

It makes my wife and I terrible sad that she removes herself from the family. I

know she sometimes won't go out with us because she's having a problem with

sounds. Recently, I've been sick and she was about to blow her stack because of

all the coughing, sniffing and clearing of throats.

Please, any strategies or devices or therapy ideas

since I just discovered that misophonia is a real medical condition and not that

I'm just being " too sensitive " about certain sounds. I always wondered why the

sound of someone popping or chomping their gum, cracking their joints, whistling

or jingling coins in their pants pockets always made me want to go postal. It's

good to know that I'm not alone in this affliction and it will be nice to

communicate with people who understand.

egad - my mother does the same thing! well, it's mainly her toes that she

constantly wiggles round and round, round and round, round and round as they're

propped up, bare, on the ottoman or the couch. i can't stand to look at her

feet! and she swears that it's " to exercise " her feet. which is bizarre, since

she's about 360 lbs and doesn't exercise a single other part of her body (other

than her voice). :/
